Contract

This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

The project ‘Intercommunity Dialogue in Kosovo’ is inspired by the UNDP Crisis Offer’s programmatic approach, ‘Get Ahead of the Crisis Curve: Anticipate and Prevent Crisis’, by focusing on building capacities within communities and institutions to build and protect both horizontal and vertical social cohesions in the face of increasing tension over the environment.

The overall objective of the project is to strengthen social cohesion by expanding community-level knowledge and cooperation on environmental justice an area of common interest, which contributes to sustainable development by fostering peaceful, equal, and inclusive societies premised on cross-community dialogue as well as gender equality, access to justice and accountable and inclusive institutions. Ultimately, the expected result of the project is to build the capacities of communities and institutions so they are able to respond to inter-community environmental concerns, which can negatively affect social cohesion.

Project results will be achieved through the following outputs:

Output 1: Social Cohesion is strengthened by communities in selected localities having enhanced capacities to understand their environmental rights and collectively mobilise across communal boundaries

Output 2: The human rights and justice institutions are more responsive to communities' demands for environmental justice

Output 3: Women are empowered to actively engage in defining measures that respond to their environmental needs which contribute to resilient communities
