The incumbent will be part of the team in charge of developing the Environmental Sciences and the Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) programmes of the UNESCO Office for the Caribbean. His/Her work will focus on the Mapping of water management in the rural farming ecosystem, with emphasis on women farmers. This mapping exercise is funded by the UN SDG Fund and is aligned with the Vision 2030 Jamaica - National Development Plan, and to the United Nations Multi-Country Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2022-2026. More specifically, the Project Officer will participate in the development of the: Long Description ---------------- (i) Report, analysis, scenarios and recommendations on the way water-food insecurity intersects with vulnerabilities towards women poverty and climate change, in line with the SDG Fund Joint Programme. This mapping report intends to strengthen the agriculture-based rural development plans and strategies, as well as to contribute to closing the gender gap in the food production chain of Jamaica (ii) Report and country profile of the STI system in Jamaica. This requires finalizing the collection of quantitative and qualitative data and information on STI, and to perform the role of national coordinator for the mapping of the STI ecosystem in Jamaica. (iii) UNESCO Office for the Caribbean’ strategy on biodiversity preservation. The Project Officer will also carry out the following activities: (i) Administrative and technical assistance in the implementation of UNESCO programmes related to the UN SDG Joint programme (ii) Propose fund raising activities to reinforce SC programmes, especially the UN SDG Joint programme (iii) Provide Expert contents for programmes communication purposes, especially in relation with the UN SDG Joint programme (iv) Participate in meetings and workshops related to SC projects and provide technical inputs when necessary.
