You have:

  • Relevant professional project management experience preferably on similar projects.
  • Experience in implementing and managing donor funded projects including managing project work plans and budgets.
  • Previous experience in implementing climate change related projects would be an asset.
  • Previous experience in the UN or donor system and cooperation with civil society.
  • Excellent computer literacy (MS Office; Windows XP, Internet); excellent communications, report writing, and analytical skills.
  • Language proficiency in both written and oral English and Arabic.

Contract

This is a UNV National Youth contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Youth contracts.

As the implementing entity of the project, UNDP Yemen is seeking for a national specialist to act as project officer. The assignment will take five (5) months, during this period the Consultant Project Officer will be based in UNDP Aden Sub-Office premises and will work under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, and the overall guidance of the Climate Change, Energy, and Environment Team Leader (CCEE-TL), and will be part of the Project Management Unit. The Consultant Project Officer is responsible to provide technical, administrative, financial, and logistical support for the implementation of the project ensuring that the project is efficiently managed to fulfil its mission and objectives as set out in the relevant project document and in accordance with the UNDP standards and best practices. The Consultant Project Officer will work in close collaboration with UNDP programme and operations team, the UNFCCC Focal Point, Climate Change Unit, technical advisors and experts, multi-lateral and bi-lateral donors and civil society ensuring successful project implementation, and should be in line, in consistency, and synergy with other climate change related activities including the Green Climate Fund-Nationally Determined Contributions project (GCF-NDC), Capacity Building Initiative for Transparency (CBIT) etc.

His/her duties and tasks are detailed in the assignment. However, an outline of the scope of work is summarized as follows: - Support the day-to-day implementation and management of the project by maintaining the delivery of appropriate technical, operational, financial, and administrative outputs, and tracking the progress of the project by monitoring and reporting. - Ensure the project is efficiently managed to fulfill its mission and objectives as set out in the relevant project documents. - Ensure that project implementation is in accordance with the UNDP standards and best practices and the according to the donor requirements. - Ensure creation of strategic partnerships and support the implementation of the resource mobilization strategy - Work in close collaboration with UNDP programme and operations team, the UNFCCC Focal Point, Climate Change Unit, technical advisors and experts, multi-lateral and bi-lateral donors and civil society ensuring successful project implementation. - Ensure Gender mainstreaming within the project.
