Salary

The salary for this job should be between 139,444 USD and 182,591 USD.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

The IVB Department's mission is to promote the health and well-being of all people, in all countries, by advancing the impact of vaccines and immunization programmes through partnership and leadership; policies and guidance; evidence and research. Our work is aligned with the WHO 13th Global Programme of Work (GPW13), with a central focus to drive impact in countries, ensure healthy lives and promote well-being at all ages. The Strategic Objectives of the IVB Department include:

  1. Establishing global immunization agendas, strategies and policies to build and harness commitment to action.
  2. Promoting research and innovation to increase the impact of vaccines, technologies and immunization practices.
  3. Advancing evidence-based introduction and access to vaccines and immunization innovations.
  4. Optimizing immunization delivery to ensure high-impact, sustainable and equitable programmes.
  5. Harnessing Vaccine Alliances and Partnerships, including collaborations with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance and key WHO partners, towards cross-programme coordination and collaboration in pursuit of universal health coverage.

The Covid Vaccine Manufacturing Taskforce initiative has three aims:

  1. In the short term to unblock supply chain bottlenecks that are limiting the supply of Covid vaccines;
  2. In the mid-term expand the global vaccine supply through voluntary technology transfers from manufacturers with approved products to existing manufacturing facilities,
  3. And in the long term to build new capacity in Low and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) and to support member states to establish sustainable health security.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

  1. Provide project management support to the Taskforce, including the conceptualization, coordination and management of meetings with potential technology donors, technology recipients and other stakeholders; establishment of expert groups to provide advice on technologies and technology transfer; and establishment of agreements with partners.
  2. Monitor work plans and budgets including resource mobilization for the work programme and follow-up on the implementation of planned activities.
  3. Follow up on action points in a timely manner, ensure that the projects are regularly monitored and reported on.
  4. Provide relevant information and consolidated feedback to the team members.
  5. Provide discernible input to the drafting of concept notes, technology evaluations, product development plans, business plans, and reports for dissemination.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: A first-level university degree in technical, public health, or business- management related field.

Experience

REMUNERATION

WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 62,120 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 4271 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
