Organizational setting:

The FAO Representation in South Sudan is organized around three main units: Programme, Operations and Administration. The current portfolio of projects in South Sudan includes activities related to Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, Natural Resource Management and works in all the 10 states. One of FAO South Sudan’s Country Programme Framework Strategy (CPF) outcome is to promote agriculture-based economic growth and incomes increased. This is by engaging in selected commodity enterprises sectors that have potential generate increased income and increased average per capita agriculture based income for the stakeholders. The FAO Market and Trade department in South Sudan works around three pillars of; (i) Establishing, promoting and monitoring viable and efficient commodity markets (ii) Promoting trade policy and stakeholder partnerships or commodities (iii) Building inclusive and responsible value chains while addressing challenges and constraints while aligned to emerging global trends.

Reporting Lines

The Project Management Specialist reports to the FAO Representative and direct supervision of the Market and Trade Team Lead/ AMVAT project manager.

Technical Focus

The Project Management Specialist will mainly focus on • Planning and scheduling project tasks internally and externally with stakeholders • Tracking and monitoring project budgets and procurement • Documenting, Report Writing and Filing of project documents as per the donor schedules and standards • Mobilizing and conducting conferences, workshop and trainings involved between FAO and its partners • Effective communication and sharing of lessons learnt from field to office and vice versa.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Coordinate with the Project Manager and in partnership with the Human Resource Officer, project recruitments (both international and national consultants) including the development of terms of reference, short-listing, review/selection and on-boarding process. • Facilitate the Project Manager, to monitor activities with Procurement Unit. • Lead the team in collecting and drafting of reports from Implementing Partners (IPs) under different Letters of Agreement (LoA) modality including the development and reviewing submissions at Expression of Interest and Call for Proposal stages. • Develop, adapt/improve and implement relevant planning and monitoring tools )in close cooperation with the Operations unit relating to:  Budgeting, Procurement and Inventory  Field activities including workshops, assessments and trainings;  Procurement and inventory  Monthly/periodic reporting and • Collaborate with the country communication Specialist to disseminate project specific reports and products for visibility purposes. • Facilitate and/or support in the planning and undertaking of trainings, workshops and capacity building activities for project stakeholders and tracking them as per the project’s work plan. • In liaison with the local value chain specialist in Juba coordinate and communicate implementation of the value chain activities to respective 3 states of the project with the development partners. • Support the development and successful implementation of communications and stakeholder engagement strategies, including detailed work plans. • Coordinate team field visits to project sites for planning, assessment, and monitoring purposes. • Support the project manager in coordinating the drafting of project reports, including ad hoc, quarterly and final project reports in a timely manner in accordance with FAO procedures and donor requirements; • Perform any other related duties as required.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• University Degree preferably in Business communication and or Agricultural development. • A South Sudanese National • At least 3 years of experience in communication in rural and agricultural development. • Working knowledge of English and limited knowledge of Arabic is an added advantage.

• Experience in relating with and mobilizing stakeholders especially at national level • Proven ability to work on cross-state assignments in South Sudan. • Experience working with the up to date digital communication tools, e.g. twit, LinkedIn, marketing and storytelling and developing of short video clips. • Speed reading • Writing donor reports
