You have:

  • At least 5 years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in project management and/or monitoring and reporting functions with at least 1 year of exposure to emergencies or development programmes.
  • Experience working in the UN, and other international development organizations is desirable.
  • Certification/training in Project Management and/or results-based management of projects/programmes.
  • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, and reporting skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; Emotionally intelligent.
  • Familiarity with PM tools e.g., MS Project, click up.
  • Ability to organize logistics for events or conferences.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments.
  • Adapt professionally and effectively in challenging and stressful working environments.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel.
  • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, teams etc.) and email/internet.
  • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines.
  • Have affinity with or interest in emergency management and humanitarian action as well as volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.

Sudan Health Assistance and response in emergencies (SHARE) aims to restore basic health and nutrition services to the republic of Sudan:

The project will be managed by the Programme Management Unit (PMU) in the World Health Organization (WHO). Initiation of project implementation is expected to take place Dec 24/ Jan 2025. Relevant stakeholders include the Ministry of Health, world Bank, UNICEF, and national implementing partners.

The Programme Management Officer will facilitate project management activities under the PMU and will work closely with the PMU team and with the other relevant departments within the country office to ensure the successful implementation of the projects conducted by the PMU.

The UNV will:

● Support the overall programme management cycle (planning, proposal development, implementation and reporting). ● Support overall programme management duties for the PMU in Sudan, including grant management, budget, activity cost estimates, expenditure to date, rate of expenditure, etc. ● Support planning, development of workplans day-to-day operation, implementation, and effective execution of Sudan WCO PMU projects, including WB SHARE project. ● Work closely with technical officers, procurement, logistic, HR and technical staff to monitor implementation rates and ensure that activities are implemented on a timely basis and expenditures are aligned with the approved agreements and correctly reflected in the donor reports, briefs, etc. ● Support the planning, monitoring (M&E) analysis and evaluation, and reporting of programme activities under SHARE project for quality results and strategic decision making. ● Prepare related elements and documents for briefings, proposals, reports, missions, communications, and advocacy documents required by the PMU. ● Reporting: ensure timely reporting partners and contributors and support development of progress reports. ● Work on the risk management and risk registers PMU managed projects. ● Collaborate with the resource mobilization focal point on resource mobilization activities, and support the development of concept notes, proposals, etc. ● Organize various programme management meetings, including preparation and participation in implementation missions for PMU managed projects, coordinate relevant activities, and ensure predictable follow-up on agreed action points with relevant stakeholders. ● Work closely with the PMU Team Lead to support the promotion of integrated approaches and cross-programme collaboration in the entire results-based management cycle that is anchored in the country cooperation strategy. ● Perform any other project management-specific related duties, as required by the functional supervisor.

Sudan is a unique country facing a unique (humanitarian) operation. It provides for an interesting and enriching environment, but also requires a mature level of cultural awareness, as well as more stamina and commitment than elsewhere to make life comfortable and affordable. Therefore, flexibility and the ability and willingness to live and work in harsh and potentially hazardous conditions, involving physical hardship and little comfort, are essential. The purpose of allowances for International UN Volunteers expert is to enable the International UN Volunteers expert to sustain a modest and secure standard of living at the duty station. The allowances provided to UN Volunteers are not to be interpreted as compensation, reward, or salary for their volunteer work. All International UN Volunteer Experts are entitled to a monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of USD 2,807, a monthly expert differential of USD 1,123, a Well-Being Differential (WBD) of USD 1,000, and a family allowance of USD 3,000 per year (equivalent to USD 250 per month), bringing the total monthly entitlement to USD 5,180.The purpose of this allowance is to cover the basic living costs of the international expert UN Volunteer. The allowance is to ensure that the volunteer can sustain a basic, adequate, and safe lifestyle. The monthly allowance rate is a fixed rate for the duty station as established by UNV headquarters.
