Africa Regional Office
The Africa Regional Office supports UNOPS country offices in the region, ensuring that projects are executed to the highest standards, providing a shared knowledge base, and ensuring that best practices and lessons learned are disseminated between projects across the entire region. The Africa Regional Office is currently located in Copenhagen, Denmark but will relocate to Nairobi, Kenya in November 2023.
Functional Responsibilities
At UNOPS, interns join our teams as equal members and are offered a good mix of support work and independent assignments with larger responsibility. Your focus will be on contributing to the development and strengthening of management and oversight in the Africa Region.
Your responsibilities will include: - Perform data collection, analysis, and reporting on a variety of internal financial and non-financial key performance indicators (KPIs) - Assist in the monitoring and implementation of action plans pertaining to Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEAH), Gender, Diversity, and Inclusion (GDI), UNOPS People Survey, Internal Control Frameworks (ICF), control self-assessments, Human Resources (HR), and procurement. - Assist in the compilation and maintenance of relevant documents, such as monthly reports, regional management meeting reports, gender reports, standard operating procedures (SoPs), and learning materials - Assist in budgeting activities - Assist in the planning and implementation of knowledge sharing sessions and activities - Liaise with internal partners, including Africa field offices, headquarters groups, and other UNOPS regions, as required - Support in the planning of meetings, events, and field missions - Perform other related duties as required.

Contract type, level and duration
Contract type: Internship
Contract duration: 6 months, with a possibility of extension, subject to satisfactory performance and available funds
This internship is not designed to lead to a staff position with UNOPS. Therefore, there should be no expectation of employment at the end of the internship.
Interns may be eligible for a monthly stipend from UNOPS provided that they do not receive funds from other institutions. Further, UNOPS may provide a one time travel lumpsum of 300, 500 or 800 USD (depending on the location at the moment of being selected for the position). However, they must make their own arrangements for accommodation, travel and necessary visa arrangements.
