To achieve this mission, the Forum has set up Centres as platforms for multi-stakeholders to address industry-related, global, social and economic challenges.

The Centre for Regions, Trade and Geopolitics (CRTG) is helping stakeholders shape progress on global and regional priorities within the most complex geopolitical and geo-economic landscape in decades.

The Centre for Urban Transformation (CUOT) is advancing public-private collaboration in cities, enabling more resilient and future-ready communities and local economies.

The Centre for the New Economy and Society (CNES) is providing a platform for leaders to shape inclusive and equitable economies and societies that create opportunity for all.

Through its Beijing office, the Forum leverages its established presence in China to drive impact by building knowledge and insights, and curating communities and initiatives of purpose, accelerating sectors and industries transformation to build a shared better future for China and the world.

Trade, the Economy and Urban Transformation are long-term significant critical themes for China and the world. Forum Beijing office is looking for a project lead to drive the growth of selected initiatives from above mentioned centres in Greater China.

An illustrative list of initiatives are shown below. The actual work scope may vary.

  • Digital Trade work focuses on adopting trade policy and practices to suit the digital economy and on accelerating the use of innovative technology to improve the efficiency and outcomes of global trade.
  • Sustainable Trade work focuses on helping economies reform trade mechanisms to support and adapt to the climate transition. It also supports the growth of a global circular economy.
  • CUOT in China focus on bridging Key Chinese cities to the global platform in various initiatives and communities, coordinating with platform global initiatives for regional implementation such as nature positive cities, Health & healthcare innovation hub etc.
  • Initiatives from CNES might include jobs of future, foster economic growth and transformation.

Reporting Lines & Interactions

The Project Lead will report to the Head of Centres & Impact at the Forum’s China office in Beijing, with a matrix reporting line to leaders in Geneva office.

Key Responsibilities

The Project Lead will play a key role leading the project and forming and facilitating engagement across the Forum's communities of business executives, leading academicians, government officials, start-up community, media, civil society organizations, and social entrepreneurs. The position is based in Beijing and will work closely with Forum teams in Geneva. Detailed responsibilities include:

  • Scoping, designing and developing initiatives growth strategies and plans with support from Beijing office and Geneva office.
  • Community engagement & maintenance, including maintaining community lists, supporting event organisation, and other community engagement efforts, support maintenance of community communication materials, and suggest new types of content or approaches
  • Project organisation, including ensuring deliverables are on track across multiple workstreams, coordinating with internal colleagues and external consultants
  • Research support on priority topics for the community
  • Manage outside consultant in building knowledge products
  • Put in place arrangements for project deliverables, including identifying appropriate external and internal stakeholders, conducting thorough research, managing project specialist, convening and commissioning work as appropriate
  • Report and monitor project progress, impact and evaluation
  • Ensure opportunities to leverage Forum networks and events for project outcomes are fully utilised

Preferred Requirements and Experience

  • 7-9 years of professional work experience working with public and private sectors on trade and economy issues
  • Experience in Greater China region with in-depth understanding of regional context in geopolitics and business
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in International Trade, International Relations, Economics, Finance, Political Science, Public Policy, or Business Administration
  • Demonstrated ability to work across different cultures and sectors as a part of community management
  • Has experience working in relevant business, non-profit, SOE or government departments, with exposure to international and multicultural environments. Experience in engaging government officials and state-owned enterprises strongly preferred.
  • Strong track record in project management, monitoring and evaluation and/or data analysis reporting preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Mandarin and English;
  • Strong familiarity with MS Office Suite, Salesforce, project management tools is highly preferred
