The project will enhance the conservation and management of the Great Zimbabwe National Monument World Heritage site in a sustainable manner; adequately interpret and present the site and its associated intangible cultural heritage elements; support the development of sustainable tourism practices and develop community-based cultural programming and tourism offers, thereby contributing to attaining the 2030 Agenda with its international sustainable development goals. Long Description ---------------- Under the overall coordination of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and at the request of the French Development Agency (AFD), UNESCO is partnering with the National Museums and Monuments of Zimbabwe and other key stakeholders in the implementation of the project. The project builds on the Organization’s long-standing collaboration with public authorities, civil society organizations and local communities to support the protection of Great Zimbabwe and the preservation of its outstanding universal value. Within the project, UNESCO will rehabilitate; enhance the conservation efforts; support the development of sustainable tourism practices; and promote community engagement in and around Great Zimbabwe National Monument to boost its cultural and sustainable tourism development. **Assignment** Within the framework of the above context, under the overall authority of the Regional Director and Representative of UNESCO Southern Africa and the direct supervision of the Head of the Culture Unit, the incumbent will assist with the coordination, management, monitoring and evaluation of the project activities. The Project Coordinator shall be involved in the project, responsible to ensure the efficient and qualitative implementation of the project. In particular, the incumbent will carry out the following tasks: **Project management, implementation, and coordination** 1. Plan and coordinate the organization of meetings, workshops, conferences and other events relating to the Great Zimbabwe World Heritage Site Development Project. 2. Manage, implement and monitor the overall project’s planned activities and be responsible of the delivery of the expected results on time and in quality including financial management, procurement, and progress reporting. 3. Ensure the timely delivery of work plans, budgets and procurement plans for the project and monitoring the implementation of these to achieve the project objectives. 4. Ensure the management of funds in accordance with the budget and the UN-to-UN Agreement with UNOPS, and in compliance with UNESCO's financial and administrative regulations and procedures. 5. Ensure smooth coordination and communication between UNESCO ROSA and concerned units at UNESCO Headquarters, as well as with UNOPS and other partners, notable ICOMOS, ICCROM and AWHF. 6. Prepare Terms of References for all contracts for consultants, implementation partners and organizations and ensure the supervision and monitoring of their timely execution. Long Description ---------------- **Planning and reporting** 1. Attend planning meetings, missions and in country meetings as required, and provide timely reporting on the project’s progress to UNESCO and the Project Steering Committee. 2. Spend at least one week per month in Zimbabwe (Harare or Masvingo as maybe appropriate) to meet with stakeholders and follow up on project activities. 3. Prepare all required periodic and annual reports to UNESCO and the donor, both narrative and financial, on the project activities, as and when needed. **Monitoring and Evaluation** 1. Ensure the collection of all data required to track the project progress towards achieving the expected results and outcome indicators (as defined in the Project Document and the Results Framework) and the Monitoring & Evaluation reporting framework. 2. Maintain a monitoring system that can provide current and real-time information on the progress. Long Description ---------------- **Communication** 1. Cooperate with UNESCO and UNOPS communication officers to ensure the visibility of the project results and impact, in line with the UNESCO Communication and Visibility plan. 2. Prepare draft plans and inputs for public information products such as news items, social media posts, infographics, audio-visual and other outreach materials. 3. Prepare briefings, presentations, speeches and talking points for UNESCO senior officials whenever necessary. 4. As delegated by the Supervisor, speak and/or actively participate in national workshops or other events related to the project. **Other** 1. Work closely with the Great Zimbabwe Development Project Manager at UNOPS and get support from the Project Assistant at UNESCO. 2.
