Position: Project Coordinator - Climate Resilient Green Community (CRGC)

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Actual hiring is contingent upon winning the proposal. The project is looking for a potential candidate to fulfill the role of project coordinator for facilitating the implementation and monitoring the project activities according to the approved project design and aligned with the donor rules and regulations; working closely with other staff, partners and stakeholders in the community to achieve the project goal to develop inclusive and sustainable rural communities.

S/he will coordinate to enhance the expertise and skills of Community Forests (CFs)/Community Protected Areas (CPAs) and Agricultural Cooperatives (ACs) in climate-smart agriculture (CSA) techniques toward sustainable natural resource management and enabling market linkages. The communities will be regreened through reforestation improving livelihood activities and strengthening collaborations among communities (CFs/CPAs), youth, local authorities and NGOs.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

The candidate is expected to have project implementation and coordination in project management and will require strong technical skills. The successful candidate is expected to represent and stand for the Core Value of WVI in external platforms. The purpose of the Project Coordinator is to coordinate the project implementation for 3 years and report to the Senior Project Manager including the project planning, implementation, budgeting, baseline, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.

  • Coordinate to conduct public awareness (IEC materials, forum) programmes on environment protection and its benefits and assist for organizing community campaigns including yearly remembrance/celebrations to promote Farmer-Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR), tree planting, and giving thanks to the nature.
  • Assist the Senior Project Manager (SPM) to form collaboration with forest administration and environment office to conduct regular training sessions on policies, regulations, and legal aspects of CF and CPA and coordinate regular meetings between local authorities, forest administration, and CFs/CPAs to bridge the gaps, reflect the learnings and scale up the best practices.
  • Assist in identification and conducting capacity assessment of community members and youth on FMNR and climate-smart agriculture and reforestation.
  • Coordinate project related trainings such as capacity building on FMNR trainings, climate-smart agriculture (CSA, agroforestry, permaculture, sustainable farming, and promotion of integrated pest management) to community members and youth.
  • Coordinate meetings to develop market linkages through community-based enterprises, including agriculture cooperatives (ACs) and the private sector for community-produced goods.
  • Support community members in restoring the communities through the promotion of agroforestry (focus on forestry and multi-purpose trees) and permaculture in CFs/CPAs and nearby communities.
  • Coordinate to provide seed funding to potential community members to improve community resilience to climate, including FMNR, sustainable farming, and Non-Forest Timber Products (NTFP).
  • Assist in conducting exposure visits to model non-timber forest products (NTFP) production and processing and support the community to join in the NTFP exhibition/fair and coordinate to establish guidelines for sustainable harvesting and processing of non-timber forest products (NTFP).
  • Coordinate to form youth parliament and build their capacity on FMNR and climate change and coordinate with relevant stakeholders to conduct youth debates on climate change (positive and negative) and form saving groups and connect them to business groups or agriculture cooperatives (ACs).
  • Support in providing project information to the Communication Unit or Consultant for the purpose of developing marketing and Communication materials (i.e. report, factsheet, case study, video of success story, marketing materials) for dissemination to all stakeholders.
  • Perform other tasks as requested by the Senior Project Manager.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in any relevant fields such as natural resources management, disaster management, climate change management, forestry management, environmental management, landscape management, social science, agronomy, agroforestry, biology management, rural development, agriculture or any related fields. Or any relevant master degree is advantage
  • 2 years of relevant professional experience in managing projects/grants related to natural resources management, disaster management, climate change management, forestry management, environmental management, landscape management, agronomy, rural development, or any relevant roles.
  • Good knowledge of natural resources, climate change, forestry production, environment, and biodiversity.
  • Good communication, negotiation, problem solving, networking, and partnerships skills
  • Good presentation or public speaking skills
  • Good English communication in both writing and speaking
