Result of Service The ultimate result of service is to facilitate the development of a regional Toolbox for disseminating knowledge in the fields of green and frontier technologies.

Work Location Amman

Expected duration The assignment is expected to begin on 1 December 2021 until 31 May 2022. If conditions warrant an extension of the dates to complete the assignment, the duration of the assignment may be longer.

Duties and Responsibilities The Individual Contractor's services are needed to assist ESCWA Technology Centre (ETC) in implementing all project activities related to Expanding the science-policy nexus in support of the 2030 Agenda in the Arab region. And carry out desk research and analyses on building a regional toolbox for supporting knowledge transfer in the field of green technology.

In particular, the Individual Contractor will be tasked to do the following:

1. Work on implementing ETC's project for supporting Green MSMEs and Technology Innovators in the Arab region. 2. Systematically follows through and retrieves, highlights, and compiles information on technology in the Arab region from a wide variety of information sources; prepares inputs on the subject as required; 3. Coordinate and follow up on the process of collection of knowledge and training material to be included in ETC's interactive toolboxes; 4. Attends meetings and follows discussions on related issues to reflect the discussions in the required input; 5. Prepares statistical tables and graphs and assists in the preparation of presentations and background substantive material for ETC projects related deliverables; 6. Assists in the preparation of agenda, info notes, presentations, substantive background material for ETC meetings; 7. Drafts routine correspondences (emails, letters, memos...) to relevant stakeholders as needed; 8. Respond to or draft responses to a range of correspondence and other meeting-related communications in English; 9. Performs other related tasks and duties as assigned.

The Individual Contractor will also assist in various administrative services by coordinating and supporting consultation meetings on the above subject.

The Individual Contractor will work under the supervision of the Executive Director of ETC.

Qualifications/special skills Competency: - Outstanding drafting and editing skills, including the ability to write lengthy reports that are easy to read and meet high professional standards, edit documents to reduce repetition and simplify the text, and proofread to eliminate grammar and formatting errors and inconsistencies; - Ability to review and synthesize large amounts of information rapidly and to distinguish major issues from minor details; - Knowledge and understanding of the mandates and roles of the UN agencies, funds, and programs in Arab countries; - Experience in reviewing and compiling multiple data sets and a strong understanding of quantitative and qualitative analysis; - Substantive knowledge of development issues in the region; - Successful track record of strategic planning, program management, and meeting deadlines for major assignments. Skills: - Strong communication (spoken and written) skills, including the ability to conduct consultations, training, and interviews, summarize conversations, and articulate ideas in a clear and concise style; - Flexibility and ability to conduct work, including meetings and consultations, online; - Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to initiate difficult conversations, manage and reduce conflicts, reach compromises, and contribute to a harmonious working environment. - Well-rounded technological skills. Academic Qualifications: Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in engineering, science, business, or related field is required. Experience: At least 3 years of progressively responsible experience in green technology and knowledge management, including 1 year with regional or international organizations, is required.

Previous experience in dealing with mapping business and technology enablers is preferred. Language: High level of professional fluency in both written and spoken English and Arabic, including proficiency with academic and technology terminologies is required .
