This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

The project focuses on the following areas: 1. Community safety and security initiatives: Diverse community protection needs, including those of women and youth addressed; 2. More accessible justice: Services for vulnerable populations, such as the poor, IDPs, women, juveniles and other marginalised population groups such as Muhamasheen are provided; 3. Gender justice capacity: Gender-inclusive rule of law institutions with stronger women’s participation and leadership in the delivery of security and inclusive justice services to women and girls is enhanced; and 4. Detainee protection: Improvements in basic conditions of detention, access to education and training, and reintegration of detainees into the community after release to protect from stigma and ostracism improved. The project is framed by a structured ongoing consultative process and bottom-up approach for building-in local ownership, developing local priorities and proposed solutions.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of [PIAJY Project Manager] or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV [Project Associate] will:

•Act as Project Focal Point in Aden Sub-Office.
•Liaise with Project stakeholders for effective communications and coordination. •Participate in planning processes at all stages of the Project. •Conduct field visits for implementation monitoring, quality assurance, and evidence collection. •Contribute to periodic reporting on challenges, achievements, and lessons learned. •Assist performance monitoring of Responsible Parties and consultants in support of Project’s National Project Officer. •Assist logistics, procurement, and finance arrangements in support of Project’s National Finance and Admin Officer.
•Assist Project visibility and public communications in support of Project’s National Communications Officer. •Any other related tasks to be assigned by the supervisor.

Results/expected outputs:

•As an active [UNDP] team member, efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly and high-quality support rendered to [UNDP] and its beneficiaries in the accomplishment of her/his functions, including: Results/Outputs can be modified as appropriate; should not entirely mirror the task description but serve as a basis for work plan and deliverables] •It is expected that this assignment would contribute to the enhancement of the project’s activity monitoring and reporting. •Provide insight to the project team on the quality of the implementation the impact of the activities, lessons learned, and key achievements. •Enhance the relationship with the counterparts, beneficiaries, and stakeholders. •Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment •A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in and capacities developed

professional work experience in a related field, experience with M&E is an asset, •experience working in the UN or other international development organization. •Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, and reporting skills. •Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing; •Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development; •Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel; •Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment; •Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials.
