Job Summary

Ensure effective implementation of the project activities working on the ground with communities and Thaba Tseka and Leribe.

Strengthen the capacity building of communities in DRR elements: 40%

  • Support the capacity building of the established community development structures to lead disaster management and development initiatives
  • Strengthen engagement and participation of communities in local development
  • Design and implement simple age appropriate activities for children
  • Lead and facilitate community mobilization for activities, ensuring greater participation
  • Ensure strong engagement with all local structures, Chiefs, Councilors, Government Ministry representatives etc.
  • Ensure all skills acquired by communities are put in place and assist with information where needed.
  • Support design of district quarterly and monthly implementation plans and implement and report in alignment with WV and ECHO standards
  • Coordinate and manage all activities of the project at council level including community mobilization, training, and utilization of inputs
  • Ensure the quality of the implementation indicator levels on the program

Facilitate participation of all stakeholders: 25%

  • Identifies key community informants for project buy in
  • Ensure participation in joint agency assessments, task force teams and workshops in relation to the project goals
  • Ensure participation and collaboration with relevant government ministries and other Humanitarian actors for optimal and a holistic approach to programming
  • Liaise with project stakeholder at local level to facilitate the provision of technical input and project components
  • Work closely with M&E Officers to ensure timely implementation of issues identified during monitoring visits

Reporting, documentation and knowledge management: 20%

  • Ensure programme quality and performance as per project objectives and targets
  • Ensure timely and regular communication with Project Officers and support report writing respecting timeliness, accuracy and availability of required supporting documents.
  • Ensure compilation of all relevant supporting documents, including but not limited to photos, videos, case studies and signed administration tools
  • Ensure timely submission of scanned documents to the district office.
  • Ensure timely sharing of information in support to meet critical deadlines.

Knowledge building and sharing of humanitarian accountability mechanisms and advocacy principles :15%

  • Provide real time feedback to communities
  • Ensure all beneficiaries and participants have access to and know how to use accountability mechanisms
  • Ensure timely communication on queries, question and general feedback to the district office
  • Energize and motivate communities in learning and participating in advocacy activities
  • Enhance strong referral mechanisms at village/community level for easy access of disaster management and emergency services
  • Respond to general queries and information

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in community development, Disaster Management and / or related disciplines.​
  • Have at least 2 years of relevant experience in disaster management and community mobilization
  • Knowledge of council and district, District disaster management team (DDMT), village disaster management team (VDMT) structures and activities
  • Knowledge of Shock responsive social protection (SRSP) and National information systems for Social Assistance (NISSA)operations
  • Have knowledge of Disaster Management and competence in disaster risk reduction activities.
  • Have solid experience in programming of disaster preparedness programs and humanitarian guidelines.
  • Have a very good experience with the grants funded project management

Working Environment / Conditions:

- Work environment: Field based

- Travel: domestic travel.
