Overview
Implement water supply, sanitation, and hygiene promotion activities in the area of responsibility.
You have:
- School diploma with four years of relevant experience; or a Bachelor’s degree in public health, Nursing, Environmental Engineering, Water and Sanitation or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations.
- Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups.
- In-depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas.
- Fluency in English is required (oral and written).
- Working knowledge of Tigrigna is desirable.

Under the general supervision of the Preparedness and Response Unit Coordinator, Programme Manager (WASH) and the direct supervision of the National Project Officer (WASH), in close coordination with the Head of Sub-office, the incumbent will be responsible for implementing water supply, sanitation, and hygiene promotion activities in the area of responsibility (AOR). This includes water quality monitoring, distribution of NFIs/goods, overseeing ongoing activities, stakeholder and community mobilization, and reporting, all in alignment with the organization's plans and needs****s
Qualifications
Required Qualifications and Experience
EDUCATION
- School diploma with four years of relevant experience; or,
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, Nursing, Environmental Engineering, Water and Sanitation or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or
EXPERIENCE
- Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations.
- Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
SKILLS
Position specific skills:
- In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization; and,
- Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming.
- Experienced in WASH infrastructure rehabilitation/development and WASH NFI/Hks planning and distribution in an emergency/recovery context.
- Knowledge of financial rules and regulations.
- Vast knowledge in WASH hygiene promotion and sanitation approaches ( PHAST, CLTS, CHAST and other relevant methods etc.
- Experience in event management such water day, toilet day, environment day etc.
Languages

Responsibilities
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities.
- Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific project topics.
- Monitor budget; verify availability of funds; obtain necessary approval and update budget related information.
- Support administrative coordination of project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
- Draft status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery and bringing them to the attention of the supervisor.
- Draft correspondence, reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations and other forms of documentation.
- Organize meetings, workshops and training sessions.
- Respond to general information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.
