Assist in organizing the Arab SMEs Summit.
You have:
- Bachelor's degree in technology, science, business studies, marketing, or sustainable development-related fields is required.
- A minimum of three years of experience in the field of research and analysis is required.
- High level of professional fluency in English spoken and written, including proficiency with academic and technology terminology is required.
- Familiarity with goals and expectations of the UN ESCWA Technology Centre is desirable.
- Strong communication skills spoken and written, including the ability to conduct consultations and interviews, summarize conversations, and articulate ideas in a clear and concise style.
- Sound knowledge in Microsoft Office tools.
- Experience and knowledge of technology, regulations, natural resources, finance, UN tools and platforms, data collection and analysis, or sustainable development are desirable.
Result of Service The ultimate result of the service is to assist ETC to prepare and implement activities related to the Arab SMEs Summit.
Work Location Amman
Expected duration The assignment is expected to begin on 15 September 2022 until 15 March 2023. If conditions warrant an extension of the dates to complete the assignment, the assignment’s duration may be longer.
Duties and Responsibilities An Individual Contractor (IC) services are needed to assist ESCWA Technology Centre (ETC) in implementing its project activities related to the organization of the Arab SMEs Summit. And carry out desk research and project implementation with a focus on technology and entrepreneurship and other associated tasks as mentioned below.
The IC will work under the supervision of the Executive Director of The ESCWA Technology Centre (ETC).
In particular, the Project Assistant will be tasked to do the following:
- Support ETC team in the preparation and implementation of the Arab SMEs Summit.
- Work on the implementation of ETC's project for supporting the community of practice in the Arab region.
- Systematically follows through and retrieves, highlights, and compiles information on technology in the Arab region from a wide variety of information sources; prepares inputs on the subject as required.
- Coordinate, and follow up on the process of collection of knowledge and training material to be included in ETC's interactive toolboxes.
- Attends meetings and follows discussions on related issues to reflect the discussions in the required input.
- Prepares statistical tables and graphs and assists in the preparation of presentations and background substantive material for ETC projects related deliverables.
- Assists in the preparation of agenda, info notes, presentations, substantive background material for ETC meetings.
- Drafts routine correspondences (emails, letters, memos...) to relevant stakeholders as needed.
- Respond to or draft responses to a range of correspondence and other meeting-related communications in English.
- Performs other related tasks and duties as assigned.
The individual contractor will also assist in various administrative services through coordination and support of consultation meetings on the above subject.
