In particular, the incumbent shall perform the following duties: Long Description ---------------- - Assist the coordination and implementation of the above-mentioned project activities and liaise with UNESCO Social and Human Sciences Sector, UNESCO field offices, UNESCO National commissions in the benefitting countries in Africa, partner agencies and national implementing partners, notably the ministries in charge of science, technology and innovation, as well as teams of national and international experts working on the project. - Prepare drafts, review and edit project-related correspondence, documents, reports and assist the project coordinator in the use of all financial management systems applications (IRIS/DUO/SISTER). - Prepare funds authorizations to relevant field offices and budget requests when and as necessary, monitor project expenditures and budgetary commitments according to approved plans and funds distribution per budget lines and WBS; verify conformity of deliverables and prepare payment requests; briefings; prepare in-house communications and responses to queries in English and French. - Assist in the organization of national consultations, training workshops, internal and external meetings and teleconferences, preparation of minutes, training materials, progress reports, agendas of meetings and any other project materials including the preparation of contracts, organization of technical missions, preparation of experts contracts and their follow-up. - Assist the project coordinator in the design and implementation of the project communication strategy and outreach, by contributing to drafts of projects’ communication materials such as leaflets, publications, social media coverage, web news. - Coordinating design of information brochures and other communication tools which should ensure the participation of stakeholders in government, business, academia in the project’s dialogue process; organizing the distribution of the projects' communication materials and managing and updating the related project web page. **COMPETENCIES (Core / Managerial)** ------------------------------------ Accountability (C) Communication (C) Innovation (C) Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement (C) Planning and organizing (C) Results focus (C) Teamwork (C) **-** ----- For detailed information, please consult the [UNESCO Competency Framework](https://en.unesco.org/sites/default/files/competency_framework_e.pdf). **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** --------------------------- ***Education*** - Completed secondary, technical or vocational education. ***Work Experience*** - A minimum of 5 (five) years of work experience in general administration functions. ***Skills/Competencies*** - Excellent planning and organizational skills - Ability to prioritize tasks and deliver under tight deadlines - Ability to maintain effective working relationships with people of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds - Capacity for teamwork - Strong IT skills (Ms Word, Excel, PPt, data management). - Project administration - Excellent interpersonal skills - Excellent written and oral communication skills. ***Languages*** - Excellent knowledge (written and spoken) of English and good knowledge of French. **DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS** ---------------------------- ***Education*** - Advanced studies in the related field. ***Work Experience*** - Working experience at UNESCO or in another international organisation. - Experience in project management and in organizing international meetings and conferences ***Skills/Competencies*** - Knowledge of UNESCO’s financial and other similar systems (IRIS, DUO, SISTER, CRM). - Understanding of UNESCO’s structure, governing bodies, institutes, commissions. ​​​​​​​ ***Languages*** - Knowledge of another official language of UNESCO (Arabic, Chinese, Spanish, Russian). **BENEFITS AND ENTITLEMENTS** ----------------------------- UNESCO’s salaries consist of a basic salary and other benefits which may include if applicable: 30 days annual leave, family allowance, medical insurance, pension plan etc. For more information in benefits and entitlements, please consult [ICSC website.](https://icsc.un.org/) **SELECTION AND RECRUITMENT PROCESS** ------------------------------------- Please note that all candidates must complete an on-line application and provide complete and accurate information.
