Result of Service The role of the individual contractor will be to specifically support the production of products for joint initiatives in the areas of communication, partnerships, and advocacy.

Work Location Windhoek

Expected duration This position is for 6 months ($813.00 per month).

Duties and Responsibilities Under the direct supervision of the UNIC Windhoek Head of Office, the individual contractor will be responsible for several areas of communication and advocacy projects, monitor and control a full range of programmatic, administrative and partnership engagement support functions.

Main areas of responsibility: - Facilitate and support with the coordination, collection of information and dissemination modalities of the UN Namibia bi-monthly newsletter. - Contribute to preparation of reports and project documents by providing formatting, proofreading and editing support on joint communication interventions. - Development of summary analysis/ report card, presentation, other data products for advocacy - Develop communique, concept notes, messaging and advocacy support in support to Launch of Green Fair, Buy Local/Grow Namibia campaign and to Annual Development Partners Forum. - Support the development of joint partnership-communication materials to expand media and visibility outreach and take an active role in identifying, approaching, and negotiating relationships with influencers and businesses

  • Support research for UN Namibia webpage and social media handles in support and implementation of innovate joint activities and to bring value to user’s interactions
  • Manage and provide clerical support to key virtual and physical attendance of joint events
  • Perform other related tasks / assignments as may be assigned by Head of Office or Public Information Officer.

    Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: 1st level University degree in Communication, Marketing or related social sciences is a minimum requirement. Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of relevant administrative, programme or event assistant work experience. At least intermediate knowledge in the Microsoft Suite of Products (including MS Word, Excel, etc.) is required. Prior experience in working with large volumes of data (entry and management) highly desirable. Prior experience in organizing high level meeting engagements and events. Project management experience is desirable, including knowledge of software, such as Smartsheet. Knowledge of UN Namibia/UN System rules, regulations, procedures, and systems is considered an asset. Knowledge of Agenda 2030 and Sustainable Development Goals and United Nations Partnership Framework (UNPAF 2019-2023) is and assets. Must be able to work in a high-volume, changing environment on tight deadlines. Language: Fluency in English is required (writing, speaking, and comprehension)
