About the Role

The Opportunity

At Plan International, we work to advance children’s rights and equality for girls. We are currently seeking a Project Accountant to support the financial management of the Livelihood and Economic Inclusion Support for Refugees Project implemented across Cairo, Alexandria, Damietta and Aswan.

In this role, you will provide timely and reliable financial information, analysis and reporting to support effective decision-making and ensure compliance with donor and organizational policies. You will work closely with project teams, program units and partner organizations to strengthen financial performance and accountability across the project.

The Role

As Project Accountant, you will:

  • Manage financial oversight of the project across multiple locations and partners.
  • Review and consolidate partners’ financial reports to ensure accuracy, compliance and timely submission to management and donors.
  • Support project budgeting, cash forecasting and grant monitoring.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure transactions are recorded correctly in SAP.
  • Coordinate fund transfers and review partner payment requests in line with Plan and donor guidelines.
  • Support project audits and ensure timely follow-up on audit recommendations.
  • Provide financial guidance and capacity building to project partners.
  • Ensure transparent financial reporting and strong documentation systems.

About You

We are looking for a finance professional who is collaborative, detail-oriented and committed to accountability.

You will ideally have:

  • A degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Experience in financial management, reporting and budget monitoring, preferably within an INGO or development organization.
  • Strong understanding of grant management and donor compliance.
  • Experience working with partners and supporting their financial capacity.
  • Good analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in digital financial systems (experience with SAP is an advantage).
  • A very good command of English.

Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)

  • Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
  • Ensures that Humanitarian Program staff are properly inducted on and understands their role in upholding Plan International’s safeguarding and GEI policies;
  • Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in project design, during implementation and as principles applied in day-to-day work of Programme team;
  • Ensures that Plan Egypt contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted.

Location: the Project accountant will be based in Cairo with frequent visits to the project locations in **, Alex. , Damietta and Aswan.**
