This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task

Under the guidance of the Project Manager CCAM-II/Programme Officer-ECCU, the Programme Support Officer (PSO) will be responsible for providing support in timely collection and ensuring quality of data, results and achievements against the project indicators. The PSO is expected to also support the team in administration, resource mobilization and internal coordination in UNDP.

Support to formulation of program strategy:

  • Assist Assistant Resident representative and Programme Officers in connection with projects implementation to achieve set targets.
  • Provision of specific inputs and support in facilitating the management of initiatives being run by ECCU, largely involving extensive coordination with diverse partners.
  • Facilitate the teams on different initiatives for effective implementation of assigned activities

Support to project management and Administration

  • Timely management of the assigned projects with the coordination of relevant Programme Officers to ensure compliance with the UNDP’s Strategic Plan (SP), Country Programme Document (CPD), and POPP guidelines.
  • Draft routine letters, meeting minutes, prepare power point presentations, provide inputs to Unit work plan and respond to e-mail communications on a daily basis.
  • Coordination with Procurement (PU), Finance (FRMU), Management Support Unit (MSU) on routine tasks
  • Support in annual reporting of the Environment and Climate Change portfolio
  • Liaise with NIM/DIM projects on regular basis for collection/ retrieving of data/information/reports required for UNDP’s internal and donor reporting
  • Assist Programme Officers in monitoring of Environment and CC portfolio/ projects for Quarterly and Annual Progress Reports (QPRs/APRs) as well as Results Oriented Analysis Report (ROAR)
  • Coordinate with MSU and portfolio’s projects for data collection and updating pertinent sections in IATI dashboard and Atlas in close coordination with programme officers
  • Ensure timely updating of the portfolio’s Project Quality Assurance (PQAs) and reflecting the same in the online system
  • Organize meetings (in-person and online), assist in monitoring missions and facilitate preparation of reports (internal and donor reporting)
  • Coordination with implementing partners, responsible parties and consultants

Support to resource mobilization:

  • Provide support to the Unit Chief, Programme Officers and Project Counterparts in preparation/processing of project documents.
  • Assist the Supervisor in identification and development of new project proposals; participate actively in the project formulation process by devising components of the project documents.
  • Provide regular assistance to Unit colleagues in preparation of cost sharing agreements, MoUs and new project formulations in order to achieve resource mobilization targets.

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level:

Bachelor degree or equivalent

Education - Additional Comments:

A University degree in Project Management, Development Studies, International Relations, Social Sciences, and/or or a related field.

Required experience:

24 Months

Experience remark:

  • At least 02 years of proven work experience of development projects (preferably in INGOs)
  • Demonstrated experience in research and analytical writing
  • Knowledge of the development context with respect to climate change adaptation
  • Ability to work in a demanding and time-bound environment
  • Ability to work team-oriented and collaborative with a variety of stakeholders
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Experience in handling of web-based management systems.
  • Ability to travel to the project areas

Language skills:

  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • Urdu(Mandatory), Level - Working Knowledge
