This is a UNV International Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as International UN Volunteer. It is normally internationally recruited only. More about UNV International Specialist contracts.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of the Team Leader Governance and Inclusive Growth Unit, the UN Volunteer Programme Support Officer – Governance will undertake the following tasks:

· Support the design, implementation and oversight of the governance projects and pro-grammes.

· Strengthen partnerships and support resource mobilization for the Governance and Inclusive Growth Unit;

· Provision of quality policy service to the Government and other partners, facilitate Country of-fice knowledge management in governance, including development of key knowledge prod-ucts.

· Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor including:

· Support to implementation of the relevant project activities; thematic inputs to the preparation of the project reports;

· Contribute to the preparation of the Project Annual Work Plans, Procurement Plans, Quarterly Reports, Results Oriented Annual Report (ROAR) and Country Office Annual Report;

· Ensure knowledge sharing, coordination of relevant research, data collection and analysis, re-lated to the projects in the Unit;

· Assist in preparation of general correspondences, memorandums, reports, budget infor-mation, schedules and other materials;

· Contribute to the organization of internal/external meetings, related to Project de-sign/implementation/reporting;

· Support overseeing and coordinating logistical arrangements and plans in the Unit

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level:

Bachelor degree or equivalent

Education - Additional Comments:

Minimum bachelor’s degree in Law, Political Science, International Relations, Peace and Conflict studies, Security studies, Public administration, Political science or other relevant area. A Master’s degree would be an added advantage

Required experience:

24 Months

Experience remark:

    • 2 years of professional experience in either: public administration, rule of law, democratic governance, security sector, anti-corruption and peacebuilding initiatives;

    · Demonstrated experience in engagement with government, intergovernmental organizations and civil society organizations and other development partners;

    · Access to and knowledge of latest academic and practitioner perspectives, methodologies, networks and reference resources for governance and peacebuilding;

    · Previous experience in research, analysis, project/programme drafting;

    · Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc), social media, and others;

    · Strong interpersonal relations and communication skills; including ability to prepare clear and concise reports; ability to conduct presentations, articulate options and positions concisely.

    · Creativity and adaptability to work environment and in delivering results in a timely manner. Flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to operate independently in austere, remote environments, including possible extensive travel within the area of operations;

    · Previous experience as a volunteer at local, national or international levels a distinct advantage

  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
