Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is committed to the principle that humane and orderly migration benefits migrants and society. As the leading international organization for migration, IOM acts with its partners in the international community to: assist in meeting the growing operational challenges of migration management; advance understanding of migration issues; encourage social and economic development through migration, and; uphold the human dignity and well-being of migrants. IOM has been active in Poland since 2002 under an agreement with the Polish government and conducts various migration programs, as well humanitarian activities.

Following the Russian invasion in Ukraine on 24 February 2022, Poland has been on the frontline of the humanitarian emergency response. Notably, an estimated 2.6 million (including over 100,000 Third Country Nationals - TCNs) have crossed its borders. IOM provides multi-sectoral humanitarian assistance to affected populations in Poland, with a view to alleviating suffering, mitigating and addressing vulnerabilities through direct assistance, as well as promoting the inclusion and empowerment of refugees and migrants.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Programme Support Unit (PSU) Coordinator or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer will: 1. In coordination with the unit heads, ensure regular and timely donor reporting; produce briefs/info sheets, sit-reps and other donor updates; collect information and data from the different IOM Poland units for this purpose. 2. Develop project proposals and concept notes in line with donor priorities and IOM Poland’s strategy in close coordination with the unit heads. 3. In coordination with the GIS/IM Officer and the media unit, support the design of relevant infographics, maps and other visual products to be included in internal and external reports and updates. 4. Contribute to developing and maintaining strong and regular liaison with partners, such as UN agencies, sector working groups, government agencies and donors. 5. Contribute to the formulation and implementation of a communication strategy to promote the mission’s interventions and programmes ; work with programme teams and contribute to the development of an accurate and coordinated narrative on displacement and migration in the public domain, including in local, regional and international media. 6. In close coordination with the relevant programme staff, CoM and Regional Communications Officer, develop and disseminate approved media content (press releases, social media posts, videos, feature stories, blogs, etc.), and provide editorial guidance as needed. 7. Proactively liaise with domestic and international media outlets, organizing access to IOM projects to enhance the visibility of IOM’s activities. 8. Ensure that messaging included in public-facing content is consistent with the strategic aims of the Organization. 9. Undertake regular travel in-country to support media outreach activities, gather material for multi-media projects and provide media training to individuals and teams as required. 10. Ensure compliance with donor visibility requirements; 11. Contribute to the inclusion of appropriate gender awareness in communications. 12. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Results/expected outputs: • As an active IOM team member, efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly and high-quality support rendered to IOM and its beneficiaries in the accomplishment of her/his functions, including: Results/Outputs can be modified as appropriate; should not entirely mirror the task description but serve as a basis for workplan and deliverables]. o Develop a communication strategy and strengthen donor engagement. o Ensure timely reporting in line with donors’ requirements. o Support effective coordination with IOM’s partners, including governments, UN agencies, and other humanitarian actors. • Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment. • A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in and capacities developed.

Security level is minimal. There are various options for housing and any other facilities. The UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials.

UN Volunteer entitlements and allowances: The purpose of the allowances and entitlements paid to UN Volunteers is to enable UN Volunteers to sustain a secure standard of living at the duty stations in line with United Nations standards without incurring personal costs. The allowances are in no way to be understood as compensation, reward, or salary in exchange for the UN Volunteer’s service.
