You have:
- An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in environmental, natural social or interdisciplinary sciences, or related field, is required.
- A minimum of two years of progressively responsible and relevant experience in natural, social or interdisciplinary sciences is required, including experience in planning, designing, managing, implementing and evaluating projects.
- Experience working with teams in interdisciplinary contexts and bringing together diverse approaches in shared deliverables is required.
- Proven organizational and management skills with ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and adjust to changing circumstances are required.
- Experience writing and editing reports and documents addressed to multiple stakeholders is required.
- Relevant work experience with intergovernmental processes at the interface of science and policy is desirable.
- Fluency in oral and written English is required.
- Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.

Result of Service
• The services of the consultant will make a significant contribution to the ability of the relevant IPBES bodies to submit for consideration by the Plenary at IPBES 13: • A proposal for the implementation of the recommendations set out in the report on the midterm review under the rolling work programme of the Platform up to 2030; • A proposal for a holistic indicator framework to monitor the implementation of the work programme of IPBES, including performance and impact indicators.

Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Environment Programme is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. Established in April 2012, the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) has a membership of more than 150 Governments (see www.ipbes.net) and seeks to respond to the needs of governments and other stakeholders in strengthening the science-policy interface on biodiversity and ecosystem services. Under the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Management Officer, and the overall supervision of the IPBES Executive Secretary • Undertake specific technical tasks related to the preparation, by the Bureau and Multidisciplinary Expert Panel, of a proposal for the implementation of the recommendations set out in the report on the midterm review under the rolling work programme of the Platform up to 2030, including related to the preparation of written inputs and analyses, and related to the organization and facilitation of online meetings, as needed. • Undertake specific technical tasks related to the preparation, by the Bureau and Multidisciplinary Expert Panel, of a holistic indicator framework to monitor the implementation of the work programme of IPBES, including the preparation of written inputs and analyses, as well as the organization of online meetings, as needed. • Liaise with secretariat staff and relevant technical support units, as needed. • Perform other duties as required. The consultant will be engaged on a part-time basis 5 months during a 12 months period.
