S/he shall ensure the strategic planning and implementation in the countries in view of supporting the Member States in its effort to implement its National Development Plan (NDP) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Country Framework (UNSDCF) and contribute to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The incumbent shall work as part of the Interdisciplinary team in the UNESCO Jakarta Office, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, and with technical guidance from SC Programme Divisions at UNESCO Headquarters. In this context, the Programme Specialist will be expected to perform the following responsibilities: Long Description ---------------- - Manage and implement programme activities following the approved Programme and Budget and provide reports. Contribute to the overall delivery of the Office's programme objectives and intersectoral working modalities. Identify focus areas within national priorities in the countries covered by the Office and seek integration of these priorities in United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Frameworks (UNSDCF) and associated work in the countries covered by the Office. - Provide advice and guidance to governments, civil society organizations, and the private sector on developing strategies and policies in Science Policy and Capacity Building, LINKS and DRR. - Prepare substantive inputs for policy development. Provide information and technical advice to other UNESCO Field Offices, peers, and colleagues in the region and carry out trends and priorities analyses, and research and recommend particular courses of action based on findings. - Initiate and participate actively in exchanges on planning and implementing programmes and projects and new and emerging trends.
