JOB PURPOSE

To provide support to policy and programme activities that effectively meet food assistance needs.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

Under the overall guidance of Head of Nutrition, the Programme Policy Officer- Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) is responsible to perform the followings: 1. Implement country specific communication work plans designed to maintain and enhance the visibility and reputation of WFP, as well as support fundraising activities, ensuring alignment with overall communications and WFP strategies. 2. Contribute to communications through good research, analysis of assigned area of work and timely preparation and distribution of information products to target audience(s). 3. Maintain a contact list of journalists and media outlets and support the flow of news/information about WFP’s work to the media, in order to support regular and appropriate communications. 4. Support the social media plan by developing social media content, and utilising platforms, networks and partners to enhance coverage and support of WFP’s activities. 5. Develop and Generate visibility content including, text, photos, videos and audio, briefs and visibility material for use across a range of integrated online platforms and visisbility at facilitation centers, in order to support global and country fund-raising activities, ensuring consistency with corporate messages. 6. Monitor and analyse traditional and social media to inform the development and/or evaluation of communication activities and strategies. 7. To support the implementation of SBCC strategies with a clear roadmap in collaboration with the SBCC consultancy firm/consultant and partners and a detailed work plan for the implementation of the Nashonuma Programme and ensure effective and timely execution. 8. Coordinate with all other agencies and specialists working groups on the various communication and SBCC activities to ensure synchronization of communication work-plans and harmonization of materials and messaging. 9. Contribute to reports, knowledge products, prepare communication material and high-quality presentation material. 10. Develop detailed action plans (monthly, quarterly, and annual) pertinent to specific outputs of the project. 11. Collate outreach data contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reports, Support communications activities that enable informed decision making and ensures consistency of information presented to the media and other stakeholders. 12. Follow standard emergency preparedness practices to support WFP to quickly respond and deploy food and needed resources to affected areas at the onset of a crisis. 13. Conduct capacity building activities to increase the effectiveness of relevant Government staff, Community Health Workers, Mother Support Groups, Community Leaders, and partners to implement demand creation programming for SBCC among key populations. 1. 14. Support capacity building ofWFP staff on all aspects of communication, provides advice and guidance within area and level of expertise, in order to ensure that all activities meet desired standards of consistency, quality and impact. For example the design and review of training materials. 15. Prepare and share the quarterly and annual reports concerning BCC activities in the provinces;and 16. Guide, assist, coordinate, and monitor all the BCC and related activities in the assigned province. 17. Coordinate with all partners for smooth implementation and reporting of the activities as per strategy and work plan. 18. Other as required.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Advanced University degree in Mass Communications/Jounalism, International Relation, Public Relation, Nutrition/Health, Social Sciences or other fields relevant , orFirst University Degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses in Communication, Social Marketing, or Behavior Change Communications.

Experience: A minimum of 3 years of professional/managerial level experience preferably with any International organization and/or UN system in preparing and implementing BCC programs in Pakistan including: 1. Utilizing specialist communications techniques and designing tools to enhance functional outputs. 2. Implementing technical programs (i.e. nutrition, etc.). 3. Has provided input into policy discussions and decisions. 4. Experience in social behavior change, community development, and training of civil society organizations on communication and related SBC programming. 5. Experience in implementing and assessing innovative approaches and techniques on- demand generation. Language: Oral and written communication skills in Urdu and English. Working knowledge of provincial language is an advantage.

Knowledge and Skills: Excellent knowledge of different provinces and their cultural contexts. Excellent written Knowledge of the different thematic areas on social mobilization and awareness raising (Nutrition, education, grievance redress) is desired. Development of work plans against strategy and monitoring.

This job is found in Country Office, Islamabad and job holder will report to Head of Unit or desigenate .
