Overview

Supervise and ensure timely project delivery of WFP’s Food Systems interventions.

You have:

  • University degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agronomy, Environmental Engineering, Food Systems, or other relevant field.
  • One year post graduate progressive experience in programme implementation.
  • Direct technical experience of different programme approaches with relevant agriculture-oriented organizations.
  • Understanding on how to monitor technical activities related to irrigation, production, post-harvest loss management, and market access with smallholder farmers and producer associations.
  • Ability to effectively work and operate in English and Somali Language.
  • Managing complex groups of stakeholders, CPs, government, cooperatives, smallholder farmers, private sector partners.
  • Technical support on projects with smallholder farmers, agriculture, production, post-harvest loss management, and market access.
  • Experience working in a complex emergency setting and in complex institutional environments.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Time management and organizational skills.

What will you do?

  • Provide supervisory support and ensure timely project progress for WFP’s Food Systems interventions, particularly around food value chains involving smallholder farmers and cooperatives.
  • Support the implementation of food systems initiatives and policies by translating into field implementation activities.
  • Identify and manage potential partnerships, opportunities, and linkages with other stakeholders to improve food systems and value chains in target areas.
  • Coordinate and supervise the cooperating partners and actively monitor progress and performance, ensuring that project deadlines and targets are met.
  • Provide supervision and technical support for the Training of Trainers (ToT) and on-farm training on the stages of production, post-harvest loss management, and access to markets, using both demonstrative and classroom-based teaching methods.
  • Foster relationships and communication with relevant stakeholders, such as other cooperating partners, UN agencies, coordination mechanisms, government, and community members.
  • Review, analyse and verify report documents and ensure accurate, timely recording of data within the specific technical area of work and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
  • Support the capacity building of WFP staff, cooperating partners and national government within a specific technical area
  • Guide cooperating partners and staff to document good practices and lessons learnt to strengthen WFP’s learning agenda, demonstrate impact and inform appropriate programme implementation adjustments
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: University degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agronomy, Environmental Engineering, Food Systems, or other field relevant to international development assistance, with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses.

Experience: One year post graduate progressive experience in programme implementation. Served as a field programme manager and implemented programmes on the agriculture value chain. Direct technical experience of different programme approaches with relevant agriculture-oriented organizations. Understanding on how to monitor technical activities related to irrigation, production, post-harvest loss management, and market access with smallholder farmers and producer associations.

Languages: Ability to effectively work and operate in English and Somali Language
