This is a UNV International Youth contract. This kind of contract is known as International UN Volunteer. It is normally internationally recruited only. More about UNV International Youth contracts.

In line with SDG 2 targets and those set by the Government, WFP is supporting Guatemalan institutions in their efforts to reduce food insecurity and malnutrition, including through the strengthening of national social programmes. WFP also works with rural communities to enhance their resilience to climate-related shocks and access to markets for smallholder farmers. This UNV assignment will support the mission of WFT to its mission and objectives in the country.

Under the direct supervision of the WFP Consultant in Programme & Policy, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  1. Support the knowledge management activities related to resilience and risk finance activi-ties, including systematize key milestones, achievements and challenges, lessons learned and best practices of WFP's activities for different audiences, including WFP internal audi-ence, donors, academia and private sector partners.
  2. Support to develop and co-ordinate data gathering and monitoring/assessment systems ensuring that rigorous quality standards are maintained.
  3. Track and analyse data to provide input into reporting activities and contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reporting on resilience activities that enables informed decision making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
  4. Liaise with implementing partners to monitor ongoing projects, ensuring effective collab-oration, timeliness and efficiency, and highlight potential risks to project delivery.
  5. Contributes to strengthen the visibility and awareness of WFP's m activities for different audiences, such as government, donors and private sector partners, including the organi-zation of one awareness-raising event in related to risk finance and insurance.
  6. Provide inputs for monitoring proposals, reports, briefings, presentations, and other rele-vant documents.
  7. Be the focal point for the design baseline for KOICA, in close coordination with the donor relations officer and other involved staff.

and/or demonstrated interest in development projects and programmes, especially those related to resilience building and microfinance. • Technical knowledge of statistical software (SPSS, SATA, R). • Experience designing project proposals and reports would be an asset. • Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded; • Interest in the work of the WFP in Guatemala.

Guatemala is classified as category “A” family duty station by the International Civil Service Commission. UNV are assigned to UN Agencies/Funds/Programs based in Guatemala City, a modern city with provision of all basic services. UN Volunteers must comply with UNDSS security standard, regulations and policies as well as those of their host Agency.
