This is a UNV International Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as International UN Volunteer. It is normally internationally recruited only. More about UNV International Specialist contracts.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Deputy Head of RCO or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer will:

  • Create information products for internal and external consumption, including reports, infographics, and snapshots, on the work of the UN in Uzbekistan;
  • Using a results-based management approach work with UNCT members to identify opportunities to highlight impact of the UN’s work in Uzbekistan,
  • Manage the UN’s Knowledge repository, including regular updating of documents and architecture;
  • Design, develop and manage databases, spreadsheets and other data tools;
  • Collate and draft the UNCT’s annual results report;
  • Collate and draft funding proposals on behalf of the UNCT or the RCO;
  • Assist in ensuring that all IMS data requirements are up to date.
  • Write and edit donor or fund reports on behalf of the UNCT or the RCO;
  • Take minutes of select meetings and follow up on action points;
  • Prepare talking points, speeches, and presentations as needed;
  • Organize, design and carry out the evaluation and analysis of location specific datasets through meaningful statistical techniques;
  • produce and update high-quality map products;
  • Any other task assigned by the supervisor;

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level:

Bachelor degree or equivalent

Education - Additional Comments:

  • University degree in information systems, communications, international relations, other similar degree.
    • An advanced degree (ie/ masters level) is an advantage.

Required experience:

24 Months

Experience remark:

  • At least 2 years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level.

Language skills:

  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • Russian(Optional), Level - Working Knowledge
  • Uzbek(Optional), Level - Working Knowledge

Area of expertise details:

  • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;
  • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;

  • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
  • Proficiency with Arc GIS, Adobe Photoshop, and other similar software I san advantage.
