Contract

This is a P-3 contract. This kind of contract is known as Professional and Director staff. It is normally internationally recruited only. It's a staff contract. It usually requires 5 years of experience, depending on education.

Salary

The salary for this job should be between 142,356 USD and 186,404 USD.

Org. Setting and Reporting The International Trade Centre (ITC) assists developing and transition economy countries to take advantage of expanding trade opportunities in an increasingly complex global environment. ITC supports Trade Impact for Good, promoting sustainable and inclusive development goals through trade. The Division of Sustainable and Inclusive Trade (DSIT) houses the Women, Youth, and Vulnerable Communities (WYVC) Section. WYVC is composed of four programmes, the SheTrades Programme, the Youth and Trade Programme, the Ethical Fashion Initiative, and the Refugee Empowerment through Markets Initiative (REMI). REMI takes a market-based approach and creates jobs and generates income for populations affected by displacement, including refugees, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), and returnees. The programme takes a systems approach and unlocks productive potential of displaced groups, small businesses, and host communities, strengthens capacity of business support institutions, and informs policy reforms.

Responsibilities Under the direct supervision of the Chief of the Women, Youth and Vulnerable Communities (WYVC) Section and the overall supervision of the Director, Division of Sustainable and Inclusive Trade (DSIT), the Programme officer will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned programmes, projects and partnerships.; monitors and analyzes programme development and implementation; reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and proposes corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; identifies and tracks follow-up actions.
  • Contributes to the development of tools and methodologies that relate to market-led development for vulnerable groups affected by displacement.
  • Coordinates the Refugees Empowerment activities through Market Initiative Programme in line with the REMI Roadmap.
  • Performs consulting assignments, in collaboration with the client, by planning facilitating workshops, through other interactive sessions and assisting in developing the action plan the client will use to manage the change.
  • Researches, analyzes, and presents information gathered from diverse sources.
  • Assists in policy development, including the review and analysis of issues and trends, preparation of evaluations or other research activities and studies.
  • Undertakes survey initiatives; designs data collection tools; reviews, analyzes and interprets responses, identifies problems/issues and prepares conclusions.
  • Prepares various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications.
  • Provides substantive support to consultative and other meetings and conferences., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations.
  • Undertakes outreach activities; conducts training workshops, seminars: makes presentations on assigned topics
  • Participates in or lead field missions, including provision of guidance to external consultants, government officials and other parties and drafting mission summaries, etc.
  • Coordinates activities related to budget and funding (programme/project preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statements) and prepares related documents/reports (work programme, programme budget).
  • Guides and supervises staff and consultants in the team.
  • Performs other duties as required.

    Education Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in, business administration, management, economics or a related field such as trade. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

    Work Experience A minimum of five years of experience in project or programme management, administration or related area is required.

    Work experience in developing country context is desirable.

    Project management experience in Aid for Trade is desirable.

    Previous experience in migration and/or displacement is desirable.

    Experience in trade led growth initiative is desirable.

    Work experience with United Nations is desirable.

    Languages For the position advertised, fluency in English is required; and knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
