Programme officer (Nutrition and WASH)

Description of task
Based in Antananarivo, the programme officer will provide technical support to at least two different projects with multiple travel in different regions such as, but not exclusively, Itasy, Amoron’I Mania and Vatovay Fitovinany.
Under the direct supervision of a WASH Specialist, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
- Assist in the implementation, follow-up and monitoring of a joint project entitled “Improved multisectoral partnerships for enhanced results against chronic malnutrition in one region of Madagascar” which will be implemented among UNICEF (WASH and Nutrition Sections), WFP and FAO under the Japan’s Grant Aid through International Organizations;
- Assist in the development of partnership with private sector and financing strategy for local WASH activities;
Support the development of income generating activities in WASH operational strategy and implementation;
Assist in the operational research “Introducing antenatal multiple micronutrient supplementation in Madagascar”;
- Provide technical assistance to the implementation of projects on nutrition and WASH through participation and collaboration with internal and external partners;
- Assist accurate information gathering and documentation (monitoring and evaluation) of projects on nutrition and WASH;
- Maintain effective partnerships and working relationships for technical coordination, information sharing and knowledge networking;
Provide technical support and coordination to obtain updated project information and report writing;
Liaise with the local JICA office to seek possibilities of collaborative activities between UNICEF and JICA in line with IFNA (Initiative for Food and Nutrition Security in Africa), where appropriate;
- Other tasks and responsibilities are effectively fulfilled.
Qualifications/Requirements
Required degree level:
Bachelor degree or equivalent

Experience remark:
Experiences of working in developing countries, working with government counterparts, community and multicultural environment is an asset.

This is a UN Volunteer assignment and eligible candidates must be 25 years of age or older.
Selection process
