How can you make a difference?

  1. Knowledge Management

The Programme Officer will support and meaningfully contribute to the ESARO disability inclusion programme and operations by supporting evidence generation and knowledge management through providing professional assistance in data collection and analysis, complete and accurate reporting as well as participation in various research and knowledge sharing of “lessons learned" and other corporate-level databases.

Participate in information exchange with country offices as well as in the development of training and orientation material by providing professional technical assistance.

Participate in the preparation of, and making professional contribution to, the preparation of programme reports required for the management.

  1. Programme Development and Management

Provide professional and technical assistance in the preparation of the various research reports being undertaken on disability inclusive programs/operations, project proposals, donor reports, and technical papers for programme development and management by collecting and analyzing data and monitoring implementation progress.

Contribute to the identification of lessons learned and good practices from various disability inclusive interventions and analyze their implications for ongoing programmes and projects. Support the team and partners to systematically document lessons learned and good practices.

3. Monitoring and evaluation

Provide technical support to establish an effective plan to evaluate and monitor research and knowledge management activities.

Work closely with the regional Programme Specialist to analyze and evaluate data to ensure compliance and achievement of objectives and recommend corrective action, when necessary, to meet programme/project objectives.

Monitor the publication of new and ongoing relevant regional and global knowledge products and disseminate them amongst the community of practice for disability inclusion and partners, ensuring the exchange and sharing of experience, lessons learned, good practices and new methods.

Support the preparation of periodic programme status reports in a timely manner, as required.

4.Capacity Building

Oversee capacity building and support for internal knowledge acquisition, management and sharing; ensure relevant communities of practice are developed and strengthened. Provide technical assistance and support in planning and organizing training programmes for the purpose of capacity building.

5. Partnership, Coordination and Collaboration

Facilitate partnership and collaboration with internal and external counterparts, including those of the UN and other development partners, in order to improve the ability to collect and disseminate best practices, lessons learned and innovations. Establish and maintain linkage to the Regional Programme Knowledge Network to ensure the availability of current and accurate programme data disaggregated by disability.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • A university degree in one of the following fields: social sciences, public administration, international law, public health, nutrition, international relations, business administration or other related disciplines.
  • A minimum of two years of professional experience in programme planning, management, all aspects of disability and inclusion and/or research in education is required.
  • Specialized training/experience in project management and knowledge management highly desirable.
  • Experience working in a developing country is considered as an asset.
  • Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of a second UN and/or local working language of the duty station an asset.
