Overview

Lead disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation work, focusing on girls’ rights and resource mobilization.

You have:

  • Relevant academic degree in Disaster Management, Geography & Environment, Environmental science, Anthropology, Development Studies, or a relevant field;
  • Minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience in leading programme management portfolios, with a strong focus on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA), including at least 5 years of experience with international non-governmental organizations (INGOs).
  • Proven track record of managing programme budgets of at least USD 3 million over a minimum period of 5 years.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multicultural, values-based environments.
  • Experience of representing at different national and regional platforms and forums including MoDMR, DDM, CCP, FFWC, BMD and other relevant ministries and departments is preferable.
  • Sound knowledge of donor narrative and financial reporting skills;
  • Solid understanding of climate impact in vulnerable location & community affecting youth and especially girls in Bangladesh;
  • Strong working knowledge and use relevant software, tools and other platforms for effective management;
  • Strong understanding of development and civil society actors, academician, network relevant to Programme concept active in the Bangladesh;
  • Demonstrated skills in conducting capacity building initiatives for local partners.
  • Proficient in communicating effectively in English, both spoken and written;
  • Demonstrates excellent teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to build and contribute to high-performing teams while maintaining a constructive and cooperative work approach.
  • Solid understanding of the social, political, and economic issues affecting child rights, demonstrated experience of, and commitment to, both mainstreaming gender within programmes, as well as directly promoting gender transformation and girls’ rights throughout programme implementation and organizational practices.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including to remote or challenging geographic locations, using various modes of transportation.
  • Strong self-management skills with a demonstrated ability to effectively plan workload, prioritize tasks, and take accountability for quality and timely outputs.
  • Experience of representation in national and international forums focusing on DRR and CCCA
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent project management credentials
  • Experience of working in USAID/EU/Global Affairs Canada/FCDO donor funded Programmes
  • Existing relationship with relevant government ministries
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively youth and youth group engagement skills;

The Role:

The Programme Manager will lead plan International Bangladesh’s (PIB) disaster risk reduction (DRR) and Climate Change adaptation (CCA) work, with a strong focus on advancing girls’ and young women's rights. Key responsibilities include implementing and scaling the girls-led DRR & CCA programme, mobilizing resources, and ensuring integration of climate resilience across PIB programmes. The role will also coordinate with partners and stakeholders, support policy advocacy, and promote youth-led, especially young women-led, climate actions. Additionally, the post holder will contribute to training, documentation, and knowledge sharing, while representing the programme within PIB’s extended leadership and broader networks.

What we’re looking for :

Essential:

  • Relevant academic degree in Disaster Management, Geography & Environment, Environmental science, Anthropology, Development Studies, or a relevant field;
  • More than five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in programme/Proposal design and development, project start up and implementation in the field of disaster risk reduction (DRR), climate change adaptation (CCA) and other relevant sectors, including technical leadership and supervisory roles in both humanitarian and development portfolio.
  • Proven track record of preparing and managing programme budgets as per donor and agency protocol.
  • Experience of representing at different national and regional platforms and forums including MoDMR, DDM, CCP, FFWC, BMD and other relevant ministries and departments is preferable
  • Sound knowledge of donor narrative and financial reporting skills;
  • Solid understanding of climate impact in vulnerable location & community affecting youth and especially girls in Bangladesh;
  • Demonstrated skills in conducting capacity-building initiatives for local partners.
  • Proficient in communicating effectively in English, both spoken and written.
