Programme Manager – Capacity Building for Outbreak Response

Are you an experienced Programme Manager who has the ability to implement and coordinate capacity building activities for our NGO partners?

• Hours: Full-time

• Pay: £36,000 - £42,000 based on experience

• Duration: 6-9 -month fixed term contract depending on start date (with the possibility of extension)

• Location: Manchester, UK (Hybrid working available)

UK-Med is an NGO providing emergency health support in times of crisis and humanitarian emergencies. We provide clinical support, as well as training and capacity building for health professionals around the world, with particular focus on countries vulnerable to natural disasters, outbreaks or with weakened health systems due to complex emergencies. As a key partner of the UK Emergency Medical Team (UK EMT), we work closely with FCDO and the WHO, but we are also growing our own programmes. Our work has never been more vital, with disease outbreaks and disasters becoming more frequent, complex, and severe.

The overall aim of UK-Med’s National Capacity Building capability is to work with partners and health staff to strengthen response skills in order to enable health services to be better prepared for emergencies.

The Programme Manager plays an essential role in ensuring that UK-Med delivers high-quality capacity building activities, manages relationships effectively and contributes actively to the strategic direction of the work of the READY Initiative . The Programme Manager works closely with the Director of Learning & Capacity Building on delivering UK-Med’s responsibilities in the READY initiative and in developing strategic direction and vision for UK-Med’s capacity building portfolio in line with our Capacity Building Approach.

The Programme Manager is an experienced humanitarian professional with a wealth of experience in working successfully in consortia, managing complex projects, and delivering quality capacity building training programmes. Furthermore, the Programme manager is passionate about building networks, working directly with partners and is able to see and explore opportunities for collaboration effectively.
