You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in administrative and programme management is required.
  • Experience in project documents preparation, coordination and reporting for development projects funded by international donor agencies is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the UN system and Human Resources rules and regulations is preferred.
  • Experience working with international organizations and/or government counterparts is preferred.
  • Experience in environment, energy and climate change is an asset.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
  • Knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.

Result of Service

To ensure the seamless execution of the Cool Coalition’s projects and activities by providing robust administrative, financial, and operational support. This includes maintaining compliance with UNEP guidelines, optimizing project tracking and reporting tools, managing human resources and procurement processes, and ensuring efficient coordination among cross-functional teams. The Individual Contractor's efforts will contribute to enhanced efficiency, improved resource management, and the timely delivery of program objectives aligned with UNEP’s mission

Duties and Responsibilities

The overall objective of the UNEP's Climate Change Division is to encourage decision-makers in government, local authorities and industry to develop and adopt policies, strategies and practices and technologies that promote sustainable patterns of consumption and production, make efficient use of natural resources, ensure safe management of chemicals and contribute to making trade and environment policies mutually supportive. It promotes the development, use and transfer of policies, technologies, economic instruments, managerial practices and other tools that assist in environmentally sound decision making and the building of corresponding activities. This Individual Contractor position is in the Climate Change Division in the Mitigation Branch at the Paris duty station. The Programme Management Support Assistant will provide essential project, administrative, and operational support to the UNEP Cool Coalition to ensure the effective execution of its projects and activities. Acting as a liaison between the Administration Unit and focal points, the Individual Contractor will facilitate the efficient processing and approval of administrative actions by gathering necessary inputs, ensuring compliance with UNEP’s guidelines, and monitoring approval progress through relevant channels. Additionally, the Individual Contractor will coordinate administrative timelines for cross-functional project teams, ensuring that team members are informed of schedules, tasks, and deliverable requirements while organizing regular check-ins to review progress and address any administrative challenges. By identifying and communicating potential delays or bottlenecks in approval processes, the Individual Contractor will work collaboratively with the Administration Unit and focal points to resolve issues promptly, ensuring efficient workflows.

Qualifications/special skills

Bachelor’s degree.
