Org. Setting and Reporting This position is located in the Office of the Chief (OoC), Terrorism Prevention Branch (TPB), Division for Treaty Affairs (DTA), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), in Vienna, Austria. The incumbent will wok under the direct supervision of the Policy Coordination Officer in the Office of the Chief, and under the overall supervision of the Chief of TPB.

Responsibilities The incumbent will perform the following specific tasks: - Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of outcomes and outputs in relevant programme/s; monitor and analyse programme/project development and implementation as it relates to TPB’s programming in particular in partnership with other stakeholders; review relevant documents and reports; identify problems and issues to be addressed and propose corrective actions; liaise with relevant parties; identify and track follow-up actions. - Strengthen TPB’s partnerships with a wide variety of stakeholders at the national, regional and global levels, including, but not limited to Member States, UN entities, international organizations, civil society organizations, academic institutions, and the private sector, and support the development of programmatic collaboration. - Lead the implementation of TPB’s communications tools, which may include web stories, management of web pages and of TPB’s social media accounts, including sourcing content, coordinating with relevant stakeholders, developing communications campaigns and develop new methods of outreach to stakeholders. - Coordinate activities related to budget and funding (programme/project preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statements, etc.) and prepare related documents/reports (pledging, work programme, programme budget, etc.). - Prepare various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports, briefing notes and studies, inputs to publications, etc. - Provide substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc. - Undertake outreach activities; conduct training workshops, seminars, etc.; make presentations on assigned topics/activities. - Perform other work-related duties as required.

    Education Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in social sciences, law, international relations, development or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with 2 additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

    Work Experience A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management is required.

    Experience in managing high-profile communications tools, including social media is required.

    Working experience in developing and implementing joint programmes with other entities and international organizations is desirable.

    Practical experience in results-based management in multilateral settings is desirable.

    Working experience focused on terrorism prevention and/or organized crime is desirable.

    Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English and in French, i.e. oral and written proficiency, is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.

    Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise and a competency-based interview.

    Special Notice Appointment against this position is for an initial period of one year. Extension of the appointment is subject to extension of the mandate and/or the availability of the funds.
