Assist in AMR programme management and development at the regional office.

You have:

  • Experience in public health or relevant programmes at national or international level; experience with anti-microbial resistance and infectious diseases (e.g., TB, HIV, malaria) would be an asset.
  • Medical qualification (MMBs or MD) with a Master's in public health (MPH).
  • Post graduate diploma in infectious disease would be an asset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; drafting and reporting skills required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with diverse partners.
  • Ability to work effectively in a challenging environment; adaptability in multi-cultural teams.
  • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office applications and database management.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work under tight deadlines with minimum supervision.

Contract

This is a UNV International Expert contract. This kind of contract is known as International UN Volunteer. It is normally internationally recruited only. More about UNV International Expert contracts.

The National UN Volunteer will be assigned to the Regional Office, within the Division of Communicable Disease Control (DCD) in the unit of Antimicrobial Resistance and Infection Prevention and Control along with the Access to Medicines and Health Technologies unit within the division of UHC/Health Systems.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Director, DCD or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer will assist in the transition of the anti-microbial resistance [AMR] programme which is undergoing a change of leadership:

• Develop a regional, consolidated approach to anti-microbial resistance [AMR] that would regroup specific programmes such as HIV, TB, Malaria, Neglected Tropical Diseases [NTDs], immunization and the broader AMR agenda, including:

a. Governance b. Service delivery, including antimicrobial stewardship c. Workforce d. Access to antimicrobials for drug sensitive and drug resistant pathogens e. Surveillance f. Public health laboratory support g. Infection prevention and control

• Assist with project management of WHO outputs for this regional, consolidated approach to AMR.
