This is a UNV International Expert contract. This kind of contract is known as International UN Volunteer. It is normally internationally recruited only. More about UNV International Expert contracts.

The National UN Volunteer will be assigned to the Regional Office, within the Division of Communicable Disease Control (DCD) in the unit of Antimicrobial Resistance and Infection Prevention and Control along with the Access to Medicines and Health Technologies unit within the division of UHC/Health Systems.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Director, DCD or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer will assist in the transition of the anti-microbial resistance [AMR] programme which is undergoing a change of leadership:

• Develop a regional, consolidated approach to anti-microbial resistance [AMR] that would regroup specific programmes such as HIV, TB, Malaria, Neglected Tropical Diseases [NTDs], immunization and the broader AMR agenda, including:

a. Governance b. Service delivery, including antimicrobial stewardship c. Workforce d. Access to antimicrobials for drug sensitive and drug resistant pathogens e. Surveillance f. Public health laboratory support g. Infection prevention and control

• Assist with project management of WHO outputs for this regional, consolidated approach to AMR.

national and/or international level in public health, or other relevant programmes; experience with anti-microbial resistance and infectious diseases (e.g., tuberculosis, HIV, malaria) would be an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization; • Medical qualification (MMBs or MD) with a master’s in public health [MPH]; • Post graduate diploma in infectious disease would be an asset • Other desired/mandatory required technical knowledge: - Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills; - Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing; - Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development; - Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel; - Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment; - Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
