UNOPS is an operational arm of the United Nations helping a wide range of partners in delivering peace, security, humanitarian and development projects across the world.

UNOPS Sri Lanka implements tailored socio-economic development projects that benefit vulnerable people and supports the Government's national capacities. UNOPS has been working across Sri Lanka managing education, public health, roads, water and sanitation, fisheries, agriculture and solid waste infrastructure projects. UNOPS also provides expertise in procurement, fund management and human resources management services.

As part of its programme implementation and advisory capacity, UNOPS will work closely with members of the Government of Sri Lanka and its representatives, the United Nations in Sri Lanka, the donor and diplomatic missions covering Sri Lanka and the Sri Lankan civil society to deliver agreed sets of projects and activities.

The Programme Management Associate will support the execution of programmatic tasks and activities related to the preservation of the artistic space and the provision of services to artists.

The Programme Management Associate will be supporting the provision of services to artists, working closely with other team members. More specifically, under the supervision of the Programme Manager and in close coordination with other members of the project team, the Programme Management Associate will be responsible for the planning, organisation and execution of workshops, master classes event management, artistic project submissions as UNOPS agreed policies, processes and standards.

He/She will have a high sense of integrity, confidentiality and the ability to engage sensibly with local stakeholders including artists, local authorities and local communities.

The position will be Colombo with travels to relevant programme locations.

Functional Responsibilities

Stakeholder Mapping, Coordination and Engagement

  • Document, Map and regularly update the list of artists including related implementing partners, civil society organizations, local authorities and donors.

  • Ensure liaison and communication with artists, partners and key stakeholders in the relevant duty station and geographic area

  • Interact with UNOPS project teams, artists, partners to exchange information related to the provision of services to artists under the programme.

  • Coordinate routine activities, manage operational aspects of the programme and resolve issues with the guidance of the programme manager.

  • Arrange and support the facilitation of meetings, trainings and workshops with different stakeholders.

Programme Implementation

  • Interact with UNOPS project teams, artists, partners to plan and implement the operational delivery of the proposed services to artists under the programme.

  • Organize and facilitate events and activities including master classes, exhibitions, trainings, workshops with artists, other related partners and stakeholders, in close coordination with the programme manager and other team members.

  • Lead the design, launch and review of the art related grants for artists in close coordination with the programme manager, the grants management officers and other relevant team members

  • Assist and participate in field visits to the project sites

Reporting and Communications

  • Support the documentation of all relevant project documents and administrative files

  • Support and contribute to the timely reporting to donors in collaboration with different functional units

  • Support communication and visibility activities for the programme as part of the programme communications plan and strategy

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education - High school degree is required - A university degree in Arts, Social Sciences and/or in related fields of study is desirable and may substitute some years of relevant experience.

Experience - Minimum of 6 years or 2 years with a relevant bachelor’s degree of experience working on art related projects in Sri Lanka including experience with peacebuilding, social cohesion and reconciliation programme. with artists - Experience organizing and facilitating events and workshops preferably related to art. - Good knowledge of the development and humanitarian sector/working with UN, Donors, NGOs in Sri Lanka is an advantage. - Additional experience of project support functions (finance, human resources, procurement & logistics) is an advantage.

Language - Full working knowledge of English is essential - Knowledge of at least one of the local languages Sinhala and/or Tamil is required
