Org. Setting and Reporting The position is located in the Solution Architecture 1, Finance, Business Intelligence \[BI\] team of the ERP office of the Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance (DMSPC) in New York and reports to the lead of the team. Responsibilities The position serves to assist the lead of the SAP BI team in the coordination and implementation requirements to deliver the team's programme of work. Under the direction of the BI team lead, the Programme Management Assistant will be responsible for the following duties and tasks in support of the manager of the ERP SA1 Finance-BI team: - Assists in the coordination of programme/project planning and in the related implementation work required to support the ongoing development of effective Business Intelligence solutions in the ERP SAP system of the UN \[aka, Umoja\]; - Follows up on related programme/project activities and supports completion of relevant documentation so as to facilitate progress and approval reviews by the team lead. - Supports the coordination of work required concerning Data extraction and retrieval, data consolidation and the related system operations as well as Data Analytics, Data visualization and related applications. - Assists in the gathering of business requirements with relevant teams both in the ERP and across the organization for the ongoing development and implementation of the ERP's work plan for Business Intelligence - In this last respect, performs a wide range of general support and administrative functions for the ERP Business Intelligence \[BI\] team, including tracking of the team's work plans and activities, compiling documentation, entering data and issuing status reports on project delivery as well as related statistical reports and graphic representations. - Performs other duties as assigned. Competencies Professionalism: Knowledge of Business Intelligence, Data analytics and statistics along with programming languages and applications for the same \[such as R language, Python, SQL, SPSS, etc\]. Knowledge of Advanced Microsoft Excel, including pivot table and VLOOKUP. Ability to work well with figures, undertake basic research and gather information from standard sources. Demonstrated ability to apply good judgment in the context of assignments given. Shows pride in work and in achievements. Demonstrates professional competence and mastery of subject matter. Education High school diploma or equivalent is required. Work Experience A minimum of three years of experience in office and programme support, data analytics and BI or related area is required. Experience in IT for Data and BI is required. Experience with Business Intelligence, Data analytics and statistics along with programming languages and applications for the same is required \[such as R language, Python, SQL, SPSS, etc\]. Experience with database analyze using Advanced Microsoft Excel, including pivot table and VLOOKUP, is required. Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage. Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview. Special Notice - This temporary position is available for 11 months and is subject to approval of Umoja GTA funding. If the selected candidate is a staff member from the United Nations Secretariat, the selection will be administered as a temporary assignment. . - While this temporary assignment may provide the successful applicant with an opportunity to gain new work experience, the selection for this position is for a limited period and has no bearing on the future incumbency of the post. •This position is subject to local recruitment pursuant to staff rule 4.4 of the United Nations Staff Rules. Having passed the Administrative Support Assessment Test in English at the United Nations Headquarters, Economic Commission for Africa, Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia, United Nations Office at Geneva, United Nations Office at Vienna, International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda or International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia; or the United Nations Accounting or Statistical Assistant Examination at the United Nations Headquarters may be accepted in lieu of the GGST. - Staff members of the United Nations common system organizations who will reach the mandatory age of separation or retirement within the duration of the current temporary need period are not eligible to apply.
