Result of Service The consultant is expected to fulfil the following assignments in support of the ongoing activities of the UN World Data Forum:

Programme coordinator of activities and events: - Establish a regular webinar series programme and operating procedures covering the next 12-months; - Initiate regular dialogue with partners to create and refine concept notes for each webinar event, including topic development and speaker.

Editorial responsibilities for provided content: - Maintain a regular call for blogs and work on their collection, editorial review and publication; - Review, update and manage all Forum related information materials and contributed articles to be posted on the website and ensure they have a high editorial standard, including webinar information, speaker profiles and other written content; - Provide responses to blog enquiries and other questions on the Forum received through the Forum email account.

Logistical support to webinar series and other events: - Create for each webinar a run of show in collaboration with speakers and moderators; - Investigate and implement innovative methods to increase the audience engagement in the webinar topics and conduct a Q&A; - Investigate and implement more effective methods for maintaining and using the email contact list.

Work Location The consultant is expected to work from his or her own location. Communication will be by telephone and electronic means with weekly/bi-weekly meetings to be scheduled.

Expected duration The consultant will work during the period 1 June 2022 to 30 November 2022.

Duties and Responsibilities The aim of the UN World Data Forum is to spur data innovation, nurture partnerships, mobilize high-level political and financial support for data, and build a pathway to better data for sustainable development. Since January 2017, the audience for the Forum has grown from 2,000 people who attended the first Forum to active list of over 20,000 interested stakeholders because of the more open and accessible Forums held in 2020 and 2021 and the establishment of a regular webinar series to maintain interest and focus between Forums.

The consultant is expected to maintain the wide outreach and interest established and build further on this success. This outreach should continue to encourage a greater diversity of participants to take part in the Forum from but not limited to governments, civil society, the private sector, donor and philanthropic bodies, international and regional agencies, the geospatial community, the media, academia (including students), and professional bodies.

More specifically, the consultant is expected to develop and coordinate the inter-Forum programme and logistics. This includes:

  • support the planning and all logistical aspects of the monthly Forum webinars series and other events;
  • provide editorial oversight over Forum content distributed online and shared among partners including the management of a continuous call for blogs;
  • other logistical tasks required, such as responding to enquiries and managing the contact database.

    Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, management or related area. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of progressively responsible experience with programme administration in a high-profile international setting. Excellent communication strategy skills and familiarity with the new development agenda (2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its goals and targets) is required. Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of international events is desirable. Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English is required for this consultancy.
