The CET is undertaking key project initiatives to accelerate structural transformations towards green development to address the climate crisis and overarching environmental issues under three core thematic areas: Climate Change Adaptation & Disaster Risk Reduction, Natural Resource Management, and Sustainable Energy & Waste Management.

Sri Lanka has set ambitious goals in accordance with meeting global development goals, particularly in Climate Action, by 2030 and 2050. And, to reach these climate action commitments, Sri Lanka needs to urgently work towards green development, incentivize climate action, and move towards a sustainable, just, and inclusive economy. Given the evolving development trajectory in the country; and owing to the ongoing socio-economic crisis, there is an acute need to catalyse UNDP Sri Lanka’s ongoing interventions in climate and environment. With this background, the Government of Sri Lanka, with the assistance of UNDP, is aiming to secure funding from the donor agencies to facilitate a greater preparedness for climate-related extreme weather conditions and events and reduce the loss of lives, social assets and losses and damages in critical climate-sensitive rural production and service sectors of communities vulnerable to climate change impacts.

Support the CET to identify sources, gather and compile data and information for the preparation of project proposal formulation. c. Provide research and analytic support to the Programme Team to inform the proposal development & resource mobilization processes.

III. Partnerships

a. Assist the CET to maintain its liaison with the Country Office Policy and Engagement (P&E) Team in rolling out the advocacy work of CET. b. Build strong internal partnerships ensuring the alignment of cross-functional teams to achieve organizational objectives.
