Result of Service Provide full range of programme/project management assistance at all stages of the business cycle, and of reliable research support. Thoroughly understands the context of programmes/projects and issues and independently handles a wide range of activities and follow-up action. Demonstrates initiative in the identification and resolution of a wide range of issues/problems, and effectively handles unforeseen situations. Contributes to successful communications and advocacy of the UN Office for Partnerships, particularly as it relates to the Decade of Action to deliver the SDGs. Establishes well organized internal databases and information management systems. Help the senior team effectively organize office support staff. Consistently applies appropriate policies, guidelines and procedures. Effectively, and in a timely manner, liaises and interacts with colleagues and concerned parties internally and externally.

Duties and Responsibilities This position is located in the UN Office for Partnerships (UN Partnerships). UN Partnerships serves as a global gateway to co-create partnerships to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Working globally, regionally and in countries UN Partnerships connects, convenes and co-creates opportunities to accelerate solutions for people and for the planet. To fulfil its mandate, UN Partnerships leverages expertise and networks across its teams and initiatives including UN Leadership, Secretary-General's SDG Advocates; the SDG Strategy Hub; the Climate Action team; the United Nations Democracy Fund; and the United Nations Fund for International Partnerships. The incumbent will support all initiatives of the UN Partnerships and report to the Executive Director of UN Partnerships, and work closely with other members of the team.

The consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Independently provide full range project management and implementation assistance at all phases of the project cycle for complex SDG-focused project initiatives.
  • Project management of complex events with various teams and external partners
  • Produce communication pieces across all teams on initiatives of UN Partnerships, ensuring accurate and consistent messaging, branding and alignment with the communications strategy of the UN leadership
  • Contribute to the social content for a portfolio of projects, initiative and events related to the UN Partnerships teams
  • Develop communication materials for the UN Partnerships leadership.
  • Lead on dissemination of various communication products, both internally and externally.
  • Lead on follow up activities with partners and media organizations
  • Manage website content and graphics
  • Manage internal data and information relevant to the scope of programme activities.
  • Manage the customer relations management system of the office
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

A minimum of 5 years of progrssively responsible experince in programme management and communication in combination with an advanced university degree is required Experience in large-scale event planning and management is required Experience in developing communication materials for the UN initiatives is required Experience in Programme management focused on SDG initiatives is required

    Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage
