What will you do?

  • Assist the School Meals team in the implementation of WFP’s school meals programme, through joint supervision visits to the schools to ascertain programme quality and compliance with set standards;
  • Assist the School Meals unit in the frequent follow up of preparing of WFP school meals monthly Distribution Lists, and NFIs;
  • In collaboration with the School Meals Focal point, support a capacity assessment for the school meals programme in Somaliland;
  • Assist the School Meals Focal point in the proof reading and verification of monthly reports on school meals implementation, support on follow up of any reported issues;
  • Attend and summarize key conferences and meetings with the WFP school meals unit;
  • Undertake Field monitoring missions to schools where appropriate and needed;
  • Support the School Feeding team on issues related to cycle creation and enrolment in SCOPE
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the School Meals Focal Point.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Secondary School Certificate. At least three years of experience in food security and nutrition programming. A certified first degree from a recognized university, studying in Social Science, Public Health or Nutrition may be considered in lieu of the years of experience.

Experience:

Understanding of WFP School Feeding / Home Grown School feeding concepts and practices.

Successfully completed 8-month internship programme with WFP Somalia.

Language:

Proficiency in oral and written communication in English and Somalia is a must.

Knowledge &Skills:

Knowledge in any of the following areas is desirable: food security, project management and nutrition.

Experience utilizing computers including word processing, spreadsheet, and other standard software packages.
