UNICEF’s country office in Gabon is a small to medium-sized UNICEF country office. To achieve the new program cycle strategies and outcomes, the office will need a committed and creative staff who want to make a lasting difference for Gabonese children.

How can you make a difference?

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

under general supervision of the Deputy Representative and in close cooperation with the Operations and Programme teams, the incumbent performs a variety of information gathering, monitoring, technical and administrative tasks in support of the programme preparation, monitoring and ensures a follow—up of the budget implementation;

  • Recommend practical and doable Programme actions to the supervisor or/and counterparts;
  • Describe the most damaging error that could be made and the consequence they would have in the work;
  • Work assigned with specific instructions and guidance checked in progress or undertaken independently and reviewed upon completion for accuracy or adherence to instructions;
  • Receive policy directions/ Guidance and provide technical advice;
  • Support Programme implementation;
  • Organize funding request and Programme filing system;
  • Financial and supply management;
  • Frequent Internal/external contact to exchange information instructions;
  • Frequent contacts with Programme team, Budget and Accounting staff to identify and clarify resource requirements, and to discuss budget estimates, costing methods and reporting requirements;
  • Support Programme implementation;

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Completion of secondary education, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses in a field related to the work Of the organization.
  • Training in financial management and accounting principles.
  • Six years' experience in budget or financial—related work of the organization.
  • Fluency in French and knowledge of English working required.
  • Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
