JOB PURPOSE

To provide specialized technical support to policy and programme activities for the effective management and implementation of social protection and livelihoods programmes.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

1.Provide technical support and executive assistance in the design, implementation and monitoring oof various activities on resilience and livelihoods, in alignment with wider social protection programme policies and guidelines and coherence with national strategies. 2.Provide specialized project management support to social protection programmes to ensure that the various activities are performed within the established targets and are following WFP’s policies and procedures. 3. Prepare a range of reports and data analysis and highlight trends/issues to support operational decision-making and ensure deliverables adhere to corporate standards and quality control within the social protection area. 4.Ensure and/or perform accurate and timely recording of data and information management to ensure consistency of information presented to stakeholders and corporately. 5.Coordinate with internal counterparts to support effective collaboration, implementation and monitoring of ongoing project activities. 6.Maintain partnerships and coordinate with local partners, agencies, NGOs and government institutions on the implementation of programme activities at the field and policy levels. 7.Support the capacity strengthening activities provided to national government, local stakeholders, cooperating partners and WFP staff within the specific technical area. 8.Support the administrative and financial management of activities to contribute to the effective and timely operations on ground and management of resources. 9.Act as a point of contact for technical backstopping and resolution of a range of operational queries and issues within specific technical areas. 10.Oversee and/or review the work of other WFP field and support staff and NGO staff, providing practical advice and guidance to contribute to delivering objectives to agreed standards and deadlines. 11.Represent WFP in periodic meetings or workshops and assist in information sharing with local stakeholders, development partners and other colleagues. 12.Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor and Head of Unit.

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

Experience in development programming in general, contributed to implementation of programmes and worked with technical teams (i.e. social protection, livelihoods, economic empowerment, country capacity strengthening, gender, inclusion, child protection), has observed or assisted with policy dialogue and capacity strengthening.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: University degree in Economics, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or another field relevant to international development assistance. Post graduate degree is an asset.

Language: Fluency (level C) in English & Arabic language.

Experience: At least six years of postgraduate experience in the relative business stream with international development organizations. Out of which, at least three years specific experience in social protection or resilience and livelihoods.

Competencies: Networking, teamwork, planning, organization and action management.
