The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) assume a substantial role for public sector business and its ability to make a major contribution towards their achievement. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development gives business a significant role to play in efforts to achieve the SDGs, based on their ability to invest and innovate in a sustainable way. Achieving the SDGs requires collective action, shared responsibility and financing from multiple sources, especially of the public sector financial institutions.

To achieve the ambitious plan of sustaining all the strategic interventions of Egypt’s WFP CO, the public-sector contribution should improve and strengthens long-term partnerships with financial institutions, companies, foundations and high-net worth individuals. STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Profound experience working in programme with technical knowledge of Gender Equality and Women’s empowerment. Has contributed to mainstreaming gender in the programme cycle and has provided input to reporting, monitoring and planning for gender.

Education: University degree in Gender Studies, International Affairs, Economics, and Social Sciences or other field relevant to international development assistance, Advanced University Degree and/or trainings/courses are an asset

Language: International Professional: Fluency (level C) in English language. Intermediate

knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language.

Required years of experience: From five to six years of postgraduate professional experience in international development or other related fields, advanced university degree will be an advantage

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

These jobs are found in Regional Bureaux (RBs), Country Offices (COs), Area/Field Offices (AOs/FOs). Job holders typically report to a Programme Policy Officer or Head of Field Office. At this level, job holders are expected to demonstrate responsibility and initiative to respond independently to various queries with only general guidance. There is a requirement to use judgment in dealing with unforeseen operational problems on a daily basis. Job holders are expected to manage resources and coach and coordinate support staff.

JOB PURPOSE

To provide specialized expertise and effective coordination to a full range of policy and programme activities that effectively contribute to gender equality and women’s empowerment in relation to food security.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  • Provide specialized expertise towards the development of project activities, plans and processes to ensure alignment with wider corporate policies and guidelines on gender equality and women’s empowerment.
  • Provide efficient coordination and specialized management support to ensure that the programme activities mainstream gender equality and women’s empowerment, following WFP’s policies and procedures.
  • Prepare a variety of reports and substantial data and make recommendations to supervisors, ensuring deliverables adhere to corporate standards and quality control.
  • Foster relationships, support partnership building with local partners, agencies, NGOs and government institutions, and participate in gender working groups and other fora to represent WFP.
  • Support the capacity building of WFP staff, cooperating partners and national government within the area of mainstreaming gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Additional Accountabilities

  • Coordinate and liaise with different CO units on the implementation of the activities stipulated in the CO Gender Action Plan and ensure objectives are delivered to agreed standards and deadlines.
  • Act as a resource person for different CO units on all complex matters within the area of gender equality to enable effective collaboration, implementation and monitoring of ongoing gender activities.
  • Follow up with the different units on the implementation of the activities stipulated in the Country Office Gender Action Plan 2017-2020 and subsequent updated action plans.
  • Organize meetings of the CO Gender Result Network, prepare agendas, keep documentation thereof, and follow up on agreed actions.
  • Keep CO staff informed of gender related events, training opportunities, and any information on gender communicated by the RBC or HQ Gender Offices.
  • Support Programme staff in mainstreaming gender by formulating gender equality outcomes, incorporating gender indicators in log frames, proposals and corporate and donor reports
  • Support the processes of reporting on gender equality and women’s empowerment indicators at CO level, including country level reports and Programme reports.
  • Support CO’s participation in national and international events, such as the 16 days of activism, international women’s day and orange days.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor and Head of Programme

· Has worked with technical teams (i.e. Gender, Nutrition, School Feeding, Livelihoods support, VAM, M&E…etc.).

· Has contributed to implementation of programmes, especially with focus on gender mainstreaming or women’s economic empowerment.

· Has observed or assisted with policy or programme discussions.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

This is a one year contract and extension will be based on satisfactory performance and fnd availbilty
