Assist in agricultural programs and support food security efforts.
You have:
- A University Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture or any related field
- Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Siswati
- A minimum of three years experience in implementing smallholder farmers production or extension, facilitating input/subsidy/support initiatives, and linking farmers production to best value markets.
- Knowledge in field crop production vegetable gardening, food security and livelihoods.
- Excellent listening and communication skills.

JOB PURPOSE
To perform specialized and/or standardized policy and programme-related processes and activities to support the effective delivery of assistance packages.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
Under the overall supervision of the Head of Programme, direct supervision by the Programme Policy Officer - CBT, the Programme Assistant - (Agricuture Field) will be responsible for the following:
1. Technical planning, supervision and monitoring of the field activities
- To actively engage in the beneficiary selection process under the guidance of the Programme Policy Officer.
- To support in the design of the food security Farming model (gardens, field farming)
- To provide support to the design of the trainings to be provided to Farmers and Neighbourhood Care Points (NCPs).
- To conduct food security activities in the field under the guidance of Line Manager (input distribution, trainings, set up, maintenance, monitoring, reporting, etc.)
- To conduct household visits, focus group discussions and key informant interviews upon the request.
- Monitor the conformity of the field works (trainings, field visits, meeting, etc.) with the standards of WFP, and as per the agreed activity planned, BoQs and contracts.
- To support in the technical evaluation of the agricultural material.
- Ensure the timely implementation of field works as per the predefined schedule.
- Inform and document the anomalies and the challenges carried out during the implementation phase of the program.
2. Stakeholder coodinators
- Field coordination in the field with the cooperating partners (CP) and extension officers on best implementation including participants, local farmers and communities affected by the project activities.
- Field coordinate with CP local authorities ensuring continuous communication with beneficiaries and communities' representatives regarding the implementation of works and in order to ensure a flawless progress of activities.
- Support in buiding relationships between WFP, government authorities, partners and communities.
3. Data collection and reporting
- File, document and report work progress to his/her supervisor on weekly basis.
- Regular reporting of work progress to the supervisor.
- Report possible problem or conflict during the activities.
- Facilitate uploading field activity data using tablets or mobile devices.
4. Security
- Respect the security rules specified in the mission and base security plan, see to it that the team under his/her responsibility complies with the security plan and perform the security management tasks that can be assigned in its protocols.
- Communicate to the security managers of the working location and security related information or non compliance with the security plan.
5. Support humanitarian activities of WFP
- Support the emergency interventions of the organizationas per the employee's abilities.
- Support any activity that helps reaching our humanitarian goals.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A University Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture or any related field
Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Siswati.
Experience: A minimum of three years experience in:
- implementing smallholder farmers production or extension
- facilitating input/subsidy/support initiatives,
- linking farmers production to best value markets
- linking farmers production to best value markets
- conducting training for transformation of farming practices
DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE
- Knowledge in field crop production vegetable gardening, food security and livelihoods.
- Has experience working in agriculture sector.

- Proficiency in Windows, MS Office (Word, Excel, Power point, Outlook).
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF CONTRACT
- Model CA Plots in NCPs and participating farmers;
- Demonstration guide to support training of farmers;
- List of supported farmers with inputs and equipment supplied;
- Daily record sheet of field activities completes at each site;
- Monthly and training activity reports.
