The United Nations World Food Programme in Turkey is looking for a Programme Assistant SC5, based in Ankara, Turkey.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Minimum Associate degree diploma in economics and administrative sciences, applied sciences, technology or in other related disciplines. Language: Fluency in spoken and written English and Turkish. Experience: Minimum 3 years work experience in a similar capacity relevant to the post. Residency Status: Candidates are required to be Turkish nationals or to have a valid residency permit of at least 6 months in Turkey.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

The job holder will be based in Ankara and reporting to the Head of Ankara Area Office.

At this level, job holders are responsible for the completion of a range of specialized and/or standardized processes and activities requiring some interpretation of standard guidelines and practices. Job holders are able to recommend a course of action to staff at various levels and may allocate tasks to other support staff. They work under minimum supervision, perform basic analyses and compile reports to support information consistency and smooth implementation of programmes/projects

JOB PURPOSE

To perform specialized and/or standardized policy and programme-related processes and activities to support the effective delivery of assistance to the beneficiaries.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

1.Perform specialized and/or standardized activities within the specific technical area of work supporting alignment with wider programme policies and guidelines. 2.Provide project management and/or general office support following established targets and WFP`s policies and procedures. 3.Within the area of responsibility, compile data, support analysis and prepare reports (e.g. need assessments, market assessments, resource utilization, programme implementation status and performance) in order to support operational decision making. 4.Perform accurate, timely collection and recording of data within the specified technical area of work following corporate standards and guidelines. 5.Liaise and coordinate with internal counterparts and external implementing actors to support effective collaboration, implementation and monitoring of ongoing project activities. 6.Assist coordination and communication with local partners, agencies, NGOs and government institutions for efficient programme implementation and timely delivery of cash assistance. 7.Assist the capacity building of cooperating partners within the specified technical area of work. 8.Identify and report challenges in livelihood related project activities and suggest solutions in consultation with Programme Associate or Head of Area Office. 9.Act as a point of contact to address general operational queries requesting assistance whenever necessary. 10.Follow standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure WFP is able to quickly respond and deploy needed resources to affected areas at the onset of the crisis. 11.Perform other related duties as required.

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

1.Has contributed to overall project management cycle. 2.Has prior experience in working with or offering service to government institutions/offices. 3.Has good communication, interpersonal skills and client orientation. 4.Has ability to identify data discrepancies and rectify problems requiring attention 5.Computer skills: Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office tools. Knowledge of Video Conferencing and/or other relevant software is an asset.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Remuneration: A competitive compensation and benefits package is offered starting from TRY 8,425.00 gross.

Annual Leave Entitlement: 1.83 days per month.

Medical Insurance: Private medical insurance plan for the employee and dependents (spouse, child or children)

Duration of the contract: 1 year (Renewable)
