You have:

• Demonstrated interest in advancing gender equality and peaceful and inclusive societies.

The portfolio of UN Women’s work on Governance, Peace and Security in Asia-Pacific is underpinned by the Regional Framework Towards Peaceful, Inclusive Societies: Advancing the Women, Peace and Security Agenda and Inclusive Governance in the Asia Pacific Region (2023-2027). The Framework includes two pillars of programming: 1) Women, Peace and Security (WPS); and 2) Inclusive Governance. Under the Framework, UN Women provides technical support to governments, women-led organizations, and civil society organizations at the regional, national and local levels to advance the promotion and protection of women’s human rights, commitments under the WPS Agenda, and gender-inclusive governance.

Under the direct supervision of the Policy and Programme Specialist, Governance Peace and Security, Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ROAP), the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

• Support the implementation of the Regional Framework by contributing to the development of concept notes, knowledge products, briefs, presentations and talking points, including for forums, conferences, missions Terms of References and events; • Support the monitoring, reporting and evaluation functions of the Governance Peace and Security Team; • Support the planning and design of external communication and outreach/advocacy strategies and plans, particularly targeting youth; • Support the improvement and updating of UN Women webpages dedicated to inclusive Governance and WPS including by drafting social media contents based on corporate policy; • Attend and take notes at various meetings; • Perform other tasks as necessary; • Mission travel may be required.

In undertaking the above duties, the UN University Volunteer will increase their knowledge of whole-of-society approach to peace and security through leadership and participation of women and youth from diverse backgrounds. In addition, the UN University Volunteer develops first-hand experience of the work environment of UN Women.

The living conditions in Bangkok present a dynamic blend of bustling urban energy and cultural richness. However, challenges such as traffic congestion, air pollution, and disparities in socio-economic development are prevalent. When it comes to safety and security, the UN volunteers will get a comprehensive orientation to navigate the city safely, including tips on using public transportation and staying in secure accommodations, ensuring that they can focus on making a positive impact while feeling secure during their assignment.
