This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

WHO is the directing and coordinating authority on international health within the United Nations system. WHO has 194 Member States and more than 7000 people working in 150 country offices, in 6 regional offices and at Headquarter in Geneva. WHO offers opportunities for UNVs globally, in our country and regional offices, as well as at Headquarters.

This UNV assignment is part of the World Health Organization project programming initiative. The UN Volunteer is expected to provide support to the integration of People-Centred Primary Care (PCPC) approach into Primary Health Care (PHC) centres across Lebanon, including in the primary health care centres inside prisons, and/or hospitalization program as well as any support and coordination required for other programs.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of National Professional Officer for Universal Health Coverage or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Programme Assistant/ Field support will: • Organize meetings and send invitations • Assist in preparations for the meetings and training workshops conducted by WHO • Draft emails, notes for the record and minutes of meetings, and other needed documents • Coordinate and communicate with partners through multiple channels in English and Arabic • Conduct field visits and meetings • Collect information in relation to project management • Analyze data and provide summaries and draft reports • Follow up on different project requirements and implementations • Conduct literature reviews • Draft concept notes • Prepare presentations • Draft reports • Review documents and reports • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Public Health, or area related to Public Health, or other relevant programmes; experience with NGOs is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization; • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills; • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing; • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development; • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel; • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment; • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines; • Sound security awareness; • Have affinity with or interest in Public Health, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. This position is based in Beirut, Lebanon. National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan. National UN Volunteers are expected to be culturally sensitive and adjust to the prevailing culture and traditions.
