ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

WFP operates a large livelihoods programme in 5 subdistricts of Cox’s Bazar, targeting vulnerable Bangladeshi women, empowering them socially and economically through entrepreneurship/ skill development training and business start-up capital (for both on-farm and off-farm businesses) to establish at household as well as group level for their sustainability. The Job holder requires working closely with various partners stakeholders and monitoring Enhancing Food Security and Nutrition (EFSN) Programme activities, reporting and follow up as well as guidance to the partners’ staff for effective implementation.

JOB PURPOSE

Coordinate and perform monitoring of Enhancing Food Security and Nutrition (EFSN) Programme activities within a specific coverage area and provide reports to support the effective delivery of assistance packages. The incumbent must have the motivation to work in the field/camps; needed to frequently visit the camps/field.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

This job is in Pekua and reports to the head of the unit.

  • Under the overall guidance of the Head of Livelihood Unit/National Programme Officer the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Coordinate and monitor implementation of WFP assisted Enhanced Food Security and Nutrition Programme.
  • Prepare qualitative and quantitative reports based on field monitoring findings including recommended follow up actions to ensure programme goals are achieved, share with cooperating partners and ensure follow up actions are taken on time.
  • Assist cooperating partner in encouraging women’s access to economic skills development and sensitization public opinions on gender-focused activities.
  • Provide guidance, on-the-job training, and ensuring a range of activities under the cooperating partners of the EFSN program, of which key activities include organizing women's groups; capacity building like entrepreneurship, skills training; conflict management training leadership and financial management training, cash support through MMT, savings mobilizations, empowerment activities, disability inclusion, Behaviour Change Communication sessions on Nutrition, Gender Protection and DRR, post-harvest, value chain and promotional support for market linkage etc.
  • Collect and summarize assistance programme data, collaborate with cooperating partners where required, conduct analysis and prepare reports to support programme reviews and informative decision making.

  • Liaise with implementing partners and internal counterparts, external stakeholders to gather feedback and comments to support programme reviews and improve services.
  • Organize and undertake regular field monitoring visits, and produce reports, case studies, as required, on monitoring observations and similar.
  • Act as a point of contact for resolution of general operational queries requesting assistance where necessary.
  • Follow standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure WFP can quickly respond and deploy needed resources to affected areas at the onset of the crisis.
  • Any other tasks as assigned by the Team leader, or by the Head of the Unit.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: University degree (bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in English, Social Science, Education, Agriculture or any other related fields. An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in a relevant subject is preferable.

EXPERIENCE: At least five years of progressively responsible work experience including three years in monitoring and implementing Enhancing Food Security and Nutrition (EFSN) Programme activities aligned with external stakeholders.

  • Familiarity with the special context of Cox’s Bazar.
  • Has to experience in organizing women’s groups, research, conducting analyses, monitoring and supervision and coordination skills.
  • Experience in conducting training sessions.

KNOWLEDGE&SKILLS:

  • Strong computer skills (including Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Understanding of M&E, reporting, accountability will be required

LANGUAGE: : Excellent written and oral/communications skills in both English and Bangla. Fluency in Chittagonian language highly preferred.
