• University degree in Economics, Food Security, Statistics, Data Science, Public Health/Nutrition, Geography, or another related field.
• At least two years of experience in food security and data analysis, market evaluations, price monitoring, food security and vulnerability analysis.
• Fluency (level C) in both English and Portuguese Language.
• Extensive knowledge of Food Security and Nutrition concepts.
• Extensive knowledge of surveys design and implementation.
• Good skills in Microsoft Office (Excel) and SPSS or STATA.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

At this level, job holders are responsible for the completion of a range of specialized and/or standardized processes and activities requiring some interpretation of standard guidelines and practices. Job holders are able to recommend a course of action to staff at various levels and may allocate tasks to other support staff. They work under minimum supervision, perform basic analyses and compile reports to support information consistency and smooth implementation of programmes/projects.

JOB PURPOSE

Strategic outcome 1 aims to Save Lives and protect the food security and nutrition status of vulnerable People and Communities affected by shocks and strengthen essential health and nutrition service delivery while leveraging opportunities to initiate resilience building and self-reliance activities. The outcome is in line with objectives 1 and 2 of the national master plan for the prevention and mitigation of natural disasters and with the master plan for disaster risk reduction for 2017–2030. It contributes to the three strategic objectives of the 2022 humanitarian response plan: lifesaving, life-sustaining and protection.

Under output 1.1 , Crisis-affected populations receive food and/or cash assistance (tier 1) to meet their food requirements. Regular and credible information on the food security and nutrition situation in Mozambique is needed to support the development of policies and programs that aim to promote better economic and health outcomes for vulnerable populations. The Research, Assessments and Monitoring unit at the WFP CO is responsible to coordinate food security and nutrition assessments and to analyze collected data for identifying how many people are in need of food assistance, where vulnerable people leave and what type of assistance is more effective to cover their needs. The team conducts these activities in close coordination with SETSAN and other UN agencies and it facilitates also Integrated Phased Classification (IPC) workshop and analysis to ensure results are endorsed by all stakeholders, including the donor community.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

Under direct supervision of the VAM Team Leader, the Data Analyst - Programme Assistant will be responsible for the following tasks:

• Support design, planning and implementation of Food Security and Nutrition Assessments. • Design questionnaire for various types of surveys and assessments using WFP corporate tools (MODA, ODK). • Provide trainings on how to conduct data collection on various topics (Food Security, Nutrition, Impact Assessments etc.) and coordinate enumerators for high quality data collection during Food Security and Nutrition survey. • Liaise with WFP HQ, with RBJ, with other units at the WFP Country Office and with technical providers for data collection using remote technology (phone calls and web surveys). • Clean and analyze data collected through face to face and remote assessments. • Produce reports to share with colleagues in the organization and partners results of food security and nutrition assessments. • Participate in IPC (Integrated Food Security Phase Classification) Analysis. • Ensure that questionnaires, data, scripts and reports related to Food Security & Nutrition and managed by the team are stored in the RAM Teams folder and in the WFP Data Lib. • Support internal procurement and admin processes related to the activities above. • Perform other related duties as required.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: University degree in Economics, Food Security, Statistics, Data Science, Public Health/Nutrition, Geography, or another related field. Experience: At least Two years of experience in food security and data analysis, market evaluations, price monitoring, food security and vulnerability analysis. Language: Fluency (level C) in both English and Portuguese Language.

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT

• At least one nation-wide food security and nutrition assessments is conducted by the team and data is collected following high quality standards. • At least one activity of remote data collection is conducted per year in order to assess the people’s food security status in hard-to-reach locations. • At least one nation-wide IPC exercise is conducted. • All requests to implement questionnaires in MODA or ODK are addressed. • Data, scripts and reports produced by the RAM team are uploaded in the Teams folder and in the WFP Data Lib as required. • All internal procurement and other admin tasks related to Food Security and Nutrition assessments are taken care of on-time;
